Setup
- Unfold the Tripod: Carefully unfold the legs of the included tripod until it stands stably. Extend the center column if additional height is required.
- Attach Spotting Scope to Tripod: Locate the tripod mounting screw on the top of the tripod head. Align the threaded hole on the underside of the spotting scope with this screw. Rotate the scope clockwise until it is securely fastened to the tripod. Ensure the scope is stable and does not wobble.
- Adjust Viewing Angle: Use the adjustment handle on the tripod to set the desired vertical and horizontal viewing angles. Tighten the handle to lock the position.
- Install Phone Adapter (Optional): If using the phone adapter, first attach your smartphone to the adapter, ensuring the phone's main camera lens is centered over the adapter's aperture. Then, carefully slide the phone adapter over the eyepiece of the spotting scope and secure it.
Operating Instructions
- Remove Lens Caps: Gently remove the objective lens cap and the eyepiece lens cap before use.
- Adjust Magnification: Rotate the magnification ring on the eyepiece to select your desired magnification level between 20x and 60x. Start with a lower magnification for a wider field of view to locate your subject, then increase as needed for more detail.
- Adjust Focus: Use the focus knob located on the main body of the scope to bring your subject into sharp focus. Turn slowly until the image is clear.
- Use the Extendable Sunshade: In bright conditions, extend the sunshade located at the front of the objective lens to reduce glare and improve image contrast.
- Adjust Eyecup: The eyepiece features a twist-up eyecup. Adjust it for comfortable viewing, especially if you wear eyeglasses.
Maintenance
- Cleaning Lenses: Use the provided cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lenses. For stubborn smudges, use a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optics. Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive force.
- Cleaning Body: Wipe the rubber armor and body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Storage: Always replace the lens caps when the scope is not in use. Store the spotting scope in its protective storage bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Waterproof Care: While waterproof, avoid prolonged submersion. If the scope gets wet, wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
Troubleshooting
- Blurry Image: Ensure the focus knob is properly adjusted. Check that the magnification is not set too high for the viewing conditions. Clean the lenses if smudges are present.
- Dark Image: Verify that the objective lens cap is fully removed. Ensure there is sufficient ambient light for observation.
- Fogging Inside Lenses: This scope is nitrogen-purged to prevent internal fogging. If fogging occurs, contact customer support. External fogging can be wiped away with a soft cloth.
- Unstable View: Ensure the tripod is fully extended and stable on a flat surface. Tighten all locking mechanisms on the tripod and the scope attachment.
