3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and effective operation of your dimmer switch. If you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
3.1 Safety Precautions
- WARNING: Power must be turned OFF at the circuit breaker before proceeding with installation. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
- Verify that the circuit is de-energized using a voltage tester before touching any wires.
- This device is for single-pole applications only. Do NOT use in 3-way circuits.
- A neutral wire is REQUIRED for this switch to function.
3.2 Wiring Guide
Follow the wiring diagram below to connect your dimmer switch:

Figure 4: Wiring diagram showing connections for Load, Hot, Neutral, and Ground wires.
- Black Wire (Hot): Connect to the incoming 120V AC line wire.
- Red Wire (Load): Connect to the wire leading to your light fixture.
- White Wire (Neutral): Connect to the neutral wire from your electrical box.
- Green Wire (Ground): Connect to the bare copper or green ground wire from your electrical box.
3.3 Installation Steps
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the existing wall plate and switch.
- Identify the Line (Hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground wires. Use a voltage tester to confirm the hot wire is de-energized.
- Connect the ECOELER dimmer switch wires to the corresponding house wires using wire nuts. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Carefully push all wires back into the electrical box.
- Mount the dimmer switch into the electrical box using the provided screws.
- Attach the wall plate.
- Restore power at the circuit breaker.

4. Operating Modes
The ECOELER Motion Sensor Dimmer Light Switch offers flexible operating modes to suit your needs:
4.1 Occupancy Mode (Auto ON, Auto OFF)
In Occupancy Mode, the light automatically turns ON when motion is detected and automatically turns OFF after a set time delay when no motion is detected. This mode is ideal for high-traffic areas where lights are frequently needed.

Figure 5: Occupancy mode in action, providing hands-free lighting.
4.2 Vacancy Mode (Manual ON, Auto OFF)
In Vacancy Mode, the light must be manually turned ON, but it will automatically turn OFF after a set time delay when no motion is detected. This mode is suitable for areas where you prefer manual control over when the light comes on, but still want the energy-saving benefit of automatic shut-off.

Figure 6: Vacancy mode, requiring manual activation but offering automatic turn-off.
4.3 Temporary Manual Override
You can temporarily override the sensor's automatic function by pressing the main button. The light will turn ON or OFF temporarily. After the set time delay expires, the switch will return to its last programmed working mode, and all settings will remain unchanged.
4.4 Manual ON/OFF Mode
This mode allows the sensor switch to function as a regular ON/OFF switch. The motion sensor will still detect motion, indicated by a red flash, but it will not trigger the light to turn ON. To activate this mode, short press the small button. To exit, short press the big button.

5. Customization and Settings
The ECOELER Motion Sensor Dimmer Light Switch allows for easy customization of its settings without removing the wall plate.
5.1 Adjusting Time Delay
To customize the time delay, press and hold the big button. The red indicator will flash 1-6 times, corresponding to different time settings:
- 1 flash: 15 seconds (Test mode)
- 2 flashes: 1 minute
- 3 flashes: 3 minutes
- 4 flashes: 5 minutes
- 5 flashes: 15 minutes
- 6 flashes: 30 minutes
5.2 Customizing Working Mode
To change the working mode (Vacancy, Occupancy, or Occupancy without light sensor), press and hold the small button. The red indicator will flash 1-3 times:
- 1 flash: Vacancy mode
- 2 flashes: Occupancy mode
- 3 flashes: Occupancy without light sensor mode (ignores ambient light levels, always responds to motion).
5.3 Adjusting Light Sensor and Sensitivity
To adjust the light sensor value or sensitivity, press and hold both the big and small buttons simultaneously. The red and green indicators will flash 1-6 times:
- 1 flash: Low sensitivity
- 2 flashes: High sensitivity
- 3 flashes: Light sensor 15 LUX
- 4 flashes: Light sensor 25 LUX
- 5 flashes: Light sensor 35 LUX
- 6 flashes: Restore to factory settings

6. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your ECOELER Motion Sensor Dimmer Light Switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the surface of the switch and wall plate with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
- Inspection: Periodically check the switch for any signs of physical damage, loose connections, or unusual operation. If any issues are observed, turn off the power at the circuit breaker and consult a qualified electrician.
- Environment: Ensure the switch is installed in a dry indoor location, away from direct moisture or extreme temperatures, to prevent damage and ensure proper function.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your ECOELER Motion Sensor Dimmer Light Switch, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light does not turn ON with motion. | Incorrect mode setting (e.g., Vacancy mode selected). Insufficient ambient light (if light sensor is active). Motion sensor sensitivity too low. No power to the switch. | Verify the switch is in Occupancy mode. Adjust ambient light sensor setting or test in darker conditions. Increase motion sensor sensitivity (refer to Section 5.3). Check circuit breaker and wiring connections. |
| Light does not turn OFF automatically. | Continuous motion detected. Time delay set too long. Switch stuck in Manual ON mode. | Ensure no continuous motion is within sensor range. Adjust time delay to a shorter duration (refer to Section 5.1). Exit Manual ON mode by pressing the big button. |
| Lights flicker or do not dim smoothly. | Incompatible bulb type. Bulb wattage exceeds switch capacity. Poor wiring connection. | Ensure dimmable LED/CFL or incandescent/halogen bulbs are used. Verify total bulb wattage is within switch limits (150W LED/CFL, 300W Incandescent/Halogen). Check all wiring connections for tightness. |
| Switch is unresponsive. | No power to the switch. Internal fault. | Check circuit breaker. If power is present and switch is still unresponsive, contact customer support. |
