5.2 Frothing Milk
To create creamy frothed milk for lattes and cappuccinos:
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (about 200ml for one serving).
- Activate Steam: Press the 'STEAM' button. Wait for the indicator light to become solid, indicating the machine is ready for steaming.
- Purge Steam Wand: Turn the steam knob to the maximum to release any condensed water from the steam wand into an empty cup. Close the knob once continuous steam is discharged.
- Froth Milk: Submerge the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Turn the steam knob to the maximum. Move the pitcher up and down slowly to incorporate air and create foam.
- Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, lower the wand deeper into the milk to heat it to your preferred temperature (around 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
- Finish: Turn off the steam knob, then remove the pitcher. Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth.
