2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your SEAFLO diaphragm pump. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection:
Carefully remove the pump and all included components from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of shipping damage. The package should contain 1 Pump, 1 Filter, and Fittings.

2.2 Mounting:
Mount the pump in a dry, well-ventilated area. The pump features an industry-standard mounting pattern and a completely rubber mounting base to minimize vibration. Secure the pump using appropriate fasteners through the mounting holes.

2.3 Plumbing Connections:
Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the pump. Ensure the flow direction matches the arrows on the pump head. Use the provided fittings for a secure and leak-proof connection. It is recommended to install the included filter on the inlet side to prevent debris from entering the pump.

2.4 Electrical Connections:
The pump operates on 110V AC power. Connect the pump's 14 AWG leads to a suitable power source, ensuring proper polarity and a fused circuit for protection. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about electrical wiring.
3. Operation
The SEAFLO 42 Series pump is designed for on-demand operation, meaning it will automatically turn on when there is a demand for water and turn off when the demand ceases.
3.1 Initial Start-up:
- Ensure all plumbing connections are tight and there are no leaks.
- Verify the power supply is connected correctly.
- Open a faucet or valve downstream to allow air to escape the system.
- Apply power to the pump. The pump will begin to self-prime and push water through the system.
- Once a steady stream of water flows from the faucet and all air is purged, close the faucet. The pump should build pressure and then shut off automatically.
3.2 Normal Operation:
The pump will automatically activate when the system pressure drops (e.g., when a faucet is opened) and will deactivate when the pressure is restored (e.g., when the faucet is closed). The internal bypass technology helps reduce rapid cycling, ensuring smooth and quiet operation.
The pump is designed to be run dry safe, meaning it will not be damaged if it runs without water for a short period. However, continuous dry running is not recommended.
4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your SEAFLO pump.
4.1 Inlet Filter Cleaning:
Periodically inspect and clean the inlet filter to prevent debris from entering the pump. A clogged filter can reduce flow and put strain on the pump.
4.2 System Inspection:
Regularly check all plumbing connections for leaks and ensure electrical connections are secure. Inspect hoses for kinks or damage.
4.3 Winterization (if applicable):
If the pump is installed in an environment where temperatures may drop below freezing, it must be properly winterized to prevent damage from freezing water. Drain all water from the pump and plumbing system, or introduce non-toxic RV antifreeze.
5. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your SEAFLO diaphragm pump.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not turn on. | No power; Blown fuse; Loose wiring; Motor fault. | Check power supply; Replace fuse; Secure connections; Contact support. |
| Pump runs but no water flows. | Air in system; Clogged inlet filter; Kinked hose; Dry run. | Allow pump to self-prime; Clean filter; Straighten hose; Ensure water supply. |
| Low flow or pressure. | Clogged filter; Partially closed valve; Air leak on inlet side; Worn pump head. | Clean filter; Open valves fully; Check inlet connections; Contact support. |
| Pump cycles on and off rapidly. | Small leak in system; Pressure switch setting; Accumulator tank issue (if present). | Check for leaks; Consult manual for pressure switch adjustment (if applicable); Inspect accumulator. |
| Excessive noise or vibration. | Loose mounting; Air in system; Debris in pump; Worn components. | Tighten mounting screws; Purge air; Inspect for debris; Contact support. |
