FIELDMANN FZI 2300-B Gasoline Generator User Manual

Model: FZI 2300-B

1. Safety Instructions

Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating the generator. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.

  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless gas. Operating a generator indoors can kill you in minutes. ALWAYS use outdoors and far away from windows, doors, and vents.
  • Fire Hazard: Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or allow open flames near the generator.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure proper grounding. Do not connect the generator to a building's electrical system unless an approved transfer switch has been installed by a qualified electrician.
  • Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period after shutdown. Avoid contact to prevent burns.
  • Hearing Protection: Wear appropriate hearing protection when operating the generator for extended periods.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator, especially during operation.

Key Components:

  • Control Panel: Contains power outlets (2 x 230V), circuit breakers, and the engine switch.
  • Fuel Tank: Located on top, with a capacity of 15 liters.
  • Engine: 4-stroke, air-cooled engine with a displacement of 212 cm³.
  • Oil Fill Cap/Dipstick: For checking and adding engine oil.
  • Air Filter: Protects the engine from dust and debris.
  • Muffler: Reduces engine noise and directs exhaust gases.
  • Frame: Sturdy protective frame for portability and stability.

3. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for safe and efficient operation.

  1. Unpacking and Inspection: Carefully remove the generator from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your dealer immediately.
  2. Placement: Place the generator on a firm, level surface outdoors, at least 1 meter (3 feet) away from buildings and other equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation and clear exhaust path.
  3. Add Engine Oil: The generator is shipped without engine oil. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick and add approximately 0.6 liters of recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30). Do not overfill.
  4. Add Fuel: Use ordinary unleaded gasoline (E10 compatible). Ensure the engine is off and cool before refueling. Fill the fuel tank carefully, avoiding spills. Do not fill above the red indicator inside the tank.
  5. Grounding: Connect a grounding wire (not included) from the generator's grounding terminal to a suitable earth ground rod. This helps prevent electric shock.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely start and operate your generator.

4.1. Starting the Generator

  1. Ensure all electrical devices are disconnected from the generator outlets.
  2. Turn the fuel valve to the 'ON' position.
  3. Move the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position (cold engine start). For a warm engine, the choke may not be necessary.
  4. Turn the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
  5. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly and firmly. Repeat until the engine starts.
  6. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'RUN' position as the engine warms up.

4.2. Connecting Electrical Devices

  • Allow the generator to run for a few minutes to stabilize.
  • Plug in your electrical devices one at a time. Do not overload the generator. The maximum continuous power is 2100W, with a peak power of 2400W.
  • Monitor the generator's load. If the engine struggles or the circuit breaker trips, reduce the load.

4.3. Stopping the Generator

  1. Disconnect all electrical devices from the generator outlets.
  2. Let the generator run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
  3. Turn the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.
  4. Turn the fuel valve to the 'OFF' position.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your generator. Always turn off the engine and allow it to cool before performing any maintenance.
