  2. Align the screw with the tripod socket on the base of your camera.
  3. Use a coin or the integrated D-ring (if present) to tighten the screw firmly. Ensure the plate is flush against the camera body and does not rotate.

Operating the Ball Head

1. Ball Lock Knob

The large knob on the side of the ball head controls the movement of the ball.

  • To loosen: Turn the knob counter-clockwise to allow the ball to move freely, enabling tilting and swiveling of your camera.
  • To tighten: Turn the knob clockwise to lock the ball in position, securing your camera at the desired angle.

The smaller knob located below the quick release clamp controls the 360° panning motion.

  • To loosen: Turn the knob counter-clockwise to allow the head to rotate horizontally for panoramic shots.
  • To tighten: Turn the knob clockwise to lock the panning base in place.

3. Using the Bubble Level

The integrated bubble level assists in achieving a perfectly level horizon for your shots.

  • Adjust the tripod legs and/or the ball head's tilt until the bubble is centered within the level indicator.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the ball head with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Lubrication: The ball mechanism is designed for smooth operation and generally does not require user lubrication. If you experience stiffness, contact Benro support.
  • Storage: Store the ball head in a dry, cool place, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and knobs to ensure they are tight. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting

  • Camera not secure: Ensure the quick release plate is properly attached to the camera and fully seated in the clamp. Tighten the quick release clamp knob firmly. Verify the safety lock lever has returned to its locked position.
  • Ball head movement is stiff: Check if the ball lock knob is fully loosened. If stiffness persists, ensure no debris is obstructing the ball mechanism. Avoid forcing movement.
  • Panning is not smooth: Ensure the panning lock knob is fully loosened. Check for any foreign objects in the panning mechanism.
