4. Setup
4.1 Charging the Devices
Both the Hunter-E Rangefinder and the RS-393 Dual Laser Measurement Tool are equipped with rechargeable lithium batteries. Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge both devices.
- Hunter-E Rangefinder: Connect the provided USB charging cable to the charging port on the rangefinder and to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or computer USB port. The charging indicator will show the charging status.
- RS-393 Dual Laser Measurement Tool: Connect the provided Type-C charging cable to the Type-C port on the tool and to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or computer USB port. The display will indicate charging status. A full charge supports up to 5000 measurements.
4.2 Initial Power On
To power on either device, press and hold the power button (refer to the device's specific button layout for exact location) until the display illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Hunter-E Rangefinder Operation
The Hunter-E Rangefinder offers five primary measurement modes. Use the Mode button to cycle through them.
- Distance Measurement: Measures the straight-line distance to a target. Aim the crosshairs at the target and press the measurement button.
- Golf Mode: Designed for golf, this mode often includes features like flag-lock and slope compensation (check device display for specific indicators).
- Height Measurement: Calculates the height of an object by taking measurements to its base and top.
- Horizontal Distance Measurement: Provides the horizontal distance to a target, compensating for elevation changes.
- Speed Measurement: Measures the speed of a moving object. Follow the on-screen prompts for accurate readings.
The smart memory function ensures the device returns to the last used mode upon power-on.
5.2 RS-393 Dual Laser Measurement Tool Operation
The RS-393 tool supports various measurement functions, including single distance, continuous measurement, area, volume, and multiple Pythagorean methods. Use the function buttons to select the desired mode.

Figure 8: Multiple measuring modes available on the RS-393 Dual Laser Measurement Tool.
- Single Distance Measurement: Press the measurement button once to take a single distance reading.
- Continuous Measurement: Activates continuous measurement, useful for finding minimum/maximum distances or tracking movement.
- Area Measurement: Measure two sides (length and width) to calculate the area.
- Volume Measurement: Measure three sides (length, width, height) to calculate the volume.
- Pythagorean Methods:
- Pythagorean Method 1 (h=A×Sinα): Calculates height from a single measurement and angle.
- Pythagorean Method 2 (h=√(a²-b²)): Calculates one side of a right triangle given the hypotenuse and another side.
- Pythagorean Method 3 (h1+h2=√(c²-b²)+√(a²-b²)): Calculates total height from two measurements to different points.
- Pythagorean Method 4 (h=√(c²-a²)-√(b²-a²)): Calculates height from two measurements to different points, often used for indirect height measurement.
- Data Storage: To save a measurement, refer to the device's specific instructions for the save function. Saved data can be reviewed later.
- Unit Switching: The RS-393 supports both metric (meters) and imperial (feet/inches) units. Use the unit button to toggle between them.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use the provided lens cleaning cloth to gently wipe the lenses of the Hunter-E Rangefinder. For both devices, use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store both devices in their protective cases when not in use. Keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the devices frequently. If storing for an extended period, charge the batteries to approximately 50% and recharge every few months.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Inkerma devices, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Low or depleted battery. | Charge the device fully using the provided charging cable. |
| Inaccurate measurements. | Dirty lens/laser aperture; unstable aiming; environmental factors (fog, heavy rain). | Clean the lens/aperture with the cleaning cloth. Ensure stable aiming. Avoid use in extreme weather conditions. |
| Display is dim or unreadable. | Low battery; extreme temperature. | Recharge the battery. Operate within specified temperature ranges. |
| Device freezes or becomes unresponsive. | Temporary software glitch. | Perform a soft reset by holding the power button until it turns off, then restart. If issue persists, allow battery to fully drain and then recharge. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact Inkerma customer support for further assistance.
