The Ubiquiti UA-G3-SK is a comprehensive kit designed for modern, secure access control, specifically tailored for managing a single door. Package Contents

Verify that all the following components are included in your package:

• 

  (1) Door Hub Mini: The central control unit for the access system, managing connections to the reader, lock, and door position sensor. It provides power and data connectivity for the entire system.

• 

  (1) G3 Reader: A secure access reader for entry authentication, compatible with various credentials including UniFi Access cards, keyfobs, and Apple Touch Pass. It features a clear indicator light for status.
• 

  (2) Pocket Keyfobs: Compact, portable devices for convenient access authentication. These keyfobs are pre-configured for use with the UniFi Access system.

Setup

1. System Requirements

Before beginning installation, ensure you have:

• A UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro) or UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 Plus (UCK G2 Plus) running UniFi OS.
• UniFi Access application installed and updated to the latest version.
• Ethernet cabling for power and data (PoE switch or injector required).
• Compatible door lock and door position sensor (not included in kit).

2. Installation of Door Hub Mini

Mount the Door Hub Mini securely near the door frame, ensuring it is within reach of the lock, reader, and door sensor wiring. Connect the Door Hub Mini to your network via an Ethernet cable from a PoE source. The device will power on automatically.

3. Connecting the G3 Reader

Connect the G3 Reader to the Door Hub Mini using the appropriate wiring. Ensure the reader is mounted at an accessible height for users, typically at eye level or near the door handle. Secure the reader to the wall or door frame according to its mounting instructions.

4. Wiring the Lock and Door Position Sensor

Refer to the wiring diagram on the Door Hub Mini for connecting your specific door lock (either dry contact or 12V) and door position sensor. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly terminated to prevent system malfunctions. Test the lock and sensor functionality before proceeding.

5. UniFi Access Application Setup

Launch the UniFi Access application on your UniFi OS console. The Door Hub Mini and G3 Reader should be automatically discovered. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure the door, add users, assign access levels, and set up schedules. Ensure all devices are adopted and show a 'Connected' status.

Operating

Granting Access

Users can gain access by presenting their assigned UniFi Access card, keyfob, or a compatible Apple device (with Apple Touch Pass enabled) to the G3 Reader. The reader will illuminate green upon successful authentication, and the door lock will disengage for a set period, allowing entry.

Exit Request

If an exit button is connected to the Door Hub Mini, pressing it will disengage the lock for egress. This provides a convenient and secure way to exit the controlled area without requiring a credential.

Managing Users and Permissions

All user management, including adding/removing users, assigning credentials, and setting access schedules, is performed through the UniFi Access application. This centralized control allows for flexible and granular management of access rights.

Maintenance

• Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and apply firmware updates for the Door Hub Mini and G3 Reader via the UniFi Access application to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
• Cleaning: Clean the exterior surfaces of all devices with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
• Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all connected cables for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Ensure all connections remain secure to prevent intermittent issues.
• System Backup: Regularly back up your UniFi Access application configuration. This is crucial for quick recovery in case of system failure or data loss.

Troubleshooting

Device Not Appearing in UniFi Access

• Ensure the Door Hub Mini is properly powered via PoE and connected to the network. Check the LED indicators on the device.
• Verify that the UniFi OS console and UniFi Access application are running and up to date. Restart the application if necessary.
• Check network connectivity and firewall settings to ensure the devices can communicate with the UniFi OS console.

G3 Reader Not Responding

• Confirm the G3 Reader is securely connected to the Door Hub Mini. Check the cable for damage.
• Restart the Door Hub Mini by power cycling it (unplugging and replugging the Ethernet cable).
• Ensure the reader is enabled and configured correctly within the UniFi Access application.

Door Lock Not Engaging/Disengaging

• Check the wiring between the Door Hub Mini and the door lock. Ensure polarity and connections are correct for your lock type.
• Verify the lock type setting (dry contact or 12V) in the UniFi Access application matches your physical lock.
• Ensure the door position sensor is correctly installed and calibrated. An incorrect sensor reading can prevent the lock from operating.
