4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

1. Carefully remove the unit from its packaging.
2. Remove all packing materials, including any protective films or tapes.
3. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

4.2 Power Connection

1. Ensure the unit's power switch is in the OFF position.
2. Connect the AC power cord to the power input on the back of the unit.
3. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard wall outlet (AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz).

4.3 Antenna Connection

For optimal DAB+ and FM radio reception, extend the telescopic antenna located at the rear of the unit. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.

4.4 Initial Power On

Press the POWER/FUNC button to turn on the unit. The LCD display will illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Function Selection

Press the POWER/FUNC button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes: Turntable, DAB+, FM, USB, AUX.

5.2 Turntable Operation

1. Select the "Turntable" function using the POWER/FUNC button.
2. Open the dust cover.
3. Place a vinyl record on the turntable platter.
4. Select the appropriate speed (33, 45, or 78 RPM) using the speed selector switch, located near the tone arm base. For 45 RPM records, place the included 45 RPM adapter on the spindle if needed.
5. Release the tone arm lock.
6. Gently lift the tone arm and position the stylus over the desired starting groove of the record.
7. Carefully lower the tone arm onto the record. Playback will begin automatically.
8. To stop playback, lift the tone arm and return it to its rest. Secure the tone arm lock.

5.3 DAB+ / FM Radio Operation

1. Select "DAB+" or "FM" function using the POWER/FUNC button.
2. For DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus):
   • Upon first use, the unit may automatically perform a full scan for available DAB+ stations. If not, press and hold the SCAN button (>>|) to initiate a full scan.
   • Use the SKIP buttons (<< / >>) to navigate through the list of found stations.
   • To save a station as a preset, tune to the desired station, then press and hold the MEMORY button. Use the SKIP buttons to select a preset number, then press MEMORY again to confirm.
3. For FM (Frequency Modulation) Radio:
   • Press the SCAN button (>>|) briefly to auto-scan for the next available station.
   • Press and hold the SCAN button (>>|) for a full auto-scan and save.
   • Use the SKIP buttons (<< / >>) to fine-tune the frequency manually.
   • To save a station as a preset, tune to the desired station, then press and hold the MEMORY button. Use the SKIP buttons to select a preset number, then press MEMORY again to confirm.

5.4 USB MP3 Playback

1. Insert a USB flash drive (formatted to FAT32) containing MP3 audio files into the USB port.
2. Select the "USB" function using the POWER/FUNC button.
3. The unit will automatically begin playing the first track.
4. Use the SKIP buttons (<< / >>) to navigate between tracks.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to pause or resume playback.
6. Press the PLAY MODE button to cycle through playback options (e.g., repeat one, repeat all, random).

5.5 Encoding (Recording to USB)

This feature allows you to record audio from the turntable or radio directly to a USB flash drive as MP3 files.

1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port. Ensure it has sufficient free space.
2. Select the desired source for recording (Turntable, DAB+, or FM) using the POWER/FUNC button.
3. Start playback of the source (e.g., start playing a record, tune to a radio station).
4. Press the REC button. The recording indicator on the display will illuminate, and recording will begin.
5. To stop recording, press the REC button again. The recording will be saved to the USB drive.

5.6 Headphone Jack

Connect standard 3.5mm stereo headphones to the headphone jack for private listening. The built-in speakers will be muted automatically when headphones are connected.

5.7 AUX-IN Connection

Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX-IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable. Select the "AUX" function to play audio from the connected device through the PL590SW's speakers.
