4.2. Capacity Expansion (Series & Parallel)

This battery supports connections in parallel and series for increased capacity or voltage:

  • Parallel Connection: Connect up to 4 batteries in parallel to achieve a maximum of 400Ah capacity (12.8V).
  • Series Connection: Connect up to 4 batteries in series to achieve a maximum of 48V (51.2V) voltage.
  • Series & Parallel: A combination of up to 4S4P is possible for a maximum of 400Ah capacity at 48V (51.2V), providing up to 20.48kWh usable energy.

Important: When connecting batteries in series or parallel, ensure all batteries are of the same brand, model, and capacity, and are fully charged to a consistent voltage before connecting.

5. Operating the Battery

5.1. Charging

The VEMDIA LiFePO4 battery can be recharged using three primary methods:

  • LiFePO4 Battery Charger: A 14.6V 20A charger is recommended for a fast charge (approximately 5 hours).
  • Solar Panel with Controller: Connect a solar panel through a compatible charge controller to recharge the battery using solar energy.
  • Alternator: The battery can also be charged via an alternator in vehicles.

Ensure the charging temperature is within 0~45°C for optimal battery health and safety.

7. Troubleshooting

The built-in BMS protects the battery from various fault conditions. If the battery stops functioning or exhibits unusual behavior, check the following:

  • No Power Output: The BMS may have activated due to over-discharge, over-current, or short circuit. Disconnect the load, wait a few minutes, and attempt to recharge the battery.
  • Charging Issues: Ensure your charger is compatible with LiFePO4 batteries (14.6V) and that connections are secure. Check if the charging temperature is within the acceptable range (0~45°C).
  • Overheating: If the battery feels excessively hot, disconnect it immediately and allow it to cool down. The BMS will trigger overheating protection.

For persistent issues, refer to the detailed troubleshooting section in the included user manual or contact VEMDIA customer support.
