Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement:

  • Carefully remove the MX95 appliance from its packaging.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, flat surface or mount it in a rack. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid placing the device near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

2. Power Connection:

  • Connect the power cable to the power input on the rear of the MX95 appliance.
  • Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable power outlet.
  • The device will power on automatically. Observe the LED indicators on the front panel for status.

3. Network Connections:

  • Connect your internet service provider's modem or router to one of the WAN ports (typically labeled) on the MX95 using an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect your internal network devices (switches, computers, etc.) to the LAN ports on the MX95 using Ethernet cables.
  • For 10G SFP+ connections, insert compatible SFP+ transceivers into the designated ports and connect fiber optic cables as required.

4. Cloud Configuration:

  • The Meraki MX95 is cloud-managed. Access the Meraki dashboard via a web browser (dashboard.meraki.com).
  • Log in with your Meraki account credentials. If you do not have an account, follow the on-screen instructions to create one.
  • Add your MX95 appliance to your network in the dashboard using its serial number.
  • Follow the dashboard's guided setup to configure your network settings, including WAN, LAN, firewall rules, and SD-WAN policies.

Operating Instructions

Dashboard Management:

All operational aspects of the Meraki MX95 are managed through the Meraki cloud dashboard. This centralized platform allows you to:

  • Monitor network status and performance in real-time.
  • Configure firewall rules and security policies.
  • Manage VPN connections and SD-WAN traffic shaping.
  • View client usage and network analytics.
  • Perform firmware upgrades and device reboots remotely.

LED Indicators:

The front panel LEDs provide visual status of the appliance:

  • Power LED: Indicates power status. Solid green for normal operation.
  • Status LED: Indicates connectivity to the Meraki cloud. Solid green for connected, blinking for connecting, off for disconnected.
  • Port LEDs: Indicate link status and activity for each network port.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your MX95 appliance:

  • Firmware Updates: Meraki automatically pushes firmware updates. Ensure your device is configured to receive these updates via the dashboard to benefit from the latest features and security patches.
  • Physical Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the appliance with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Environmental Checks: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges.
  • Cable Integrity: Periodically check all connected cables for secure connections and signs of wear or damage.

  • No Power:
