Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your Edifier ES20 Portable Bluetooth Speaker. Please read it thoroughly before operating the device.

The Edifier ES20 is a compact and powerful portable Bluetooth speaker designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It features IP67 dustproof and waterproof rating, up to 15 hours of playtime, Bluetooth V5.4 connectivity, and an ambient light system.

Setup

Power On/Off

To power on or off the speaker, press and hold the power button located on the top panel for approximately 1.5 seconds. The indicator lights will illuminate or turn off accordingly.

If the speaker is not charging and remains inactive for 30 minutes (no audio playback or user operation), it will automatically power off. This feature can be disabled via the EDIFIER ConneX app under "My Device" > "Power saving mode".

Bluetooth Connection

The ES20 speaker supports connecting to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

Connecting One Device

  1. When the speaker is powered on, it automatically enters Bluetooth pairing mode, indicated by a blinking blue light.
  2. On your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and select "EDIFIER ES20" from the list of available devices.
  3. Once connected, the indicator light will turn solid blue.
  4. To disconnect from the current device, press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.

The speaker will automatically reconnect to the last connected device when powered on again.

Connecting Two Devices Simultaneously

  1. First, connect your primary device (Device A) to the speaker as described above.
  2. Then, press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons on the speaker for 1.5 seconds to enter pairing mode again.
  3. On your second device (Device B), select "EDIFIER ES20" from the Bluetooth list. The indicator will turn solid blue once connected.
  4. To play audio from Device B, pause playback on Device A. The speaker will automatically switch to Device B.
  5. To connect a different Bluetooth device, first disconnect the current device by pressing and holding the "+" and "-" buttons on the speaker for 1.5 seconds, then reconnect from your new device's Bluetooth list.

Bluetooth Stereo Pairing (TWS)

You can pair two ES20 speakers together for a true wireless stereo (TWS) sound experience.

  1. Ensure both ES20 speakers are powered on and not connected to any other Bluetooth devices.
  2. On the first ES20 speaker, double-press the POWER button. The white indicator will pulse slowly. This speaker will become the master (right channel).
  3. On the second ES20 speaker, double-press the POWER button as well. It will also start pulsing. This speaker will become the slave (left channel).
  4. Once paired, the indicator on the slave speaker will turn off, while the master's indicator will turn solid white.
  5. Connect your device to the master speaker via Bluetooth. You can then control playback from the master speaker.
  6. To exit stereo mode, double-press the POWER button on either the master or the slave speaker.

Operating Instructions

Playback Control

  • Adjust Volume: Press the "+" or "-" button.
  • Skip Track: Press and hold the "+" button for the next track, or the "-" button for the previous track.
  • Pause/Resume Playback: Press the POWER button once.

Using the Ambient Light

The ES20 features an ambient light system with multiple modes:

  • Press the LIGHT EFFECT button (sun icon) to switch between different light modes (Breathing, Rainbow, Static, Glittering and Colorful, Emergency Light).
  • To enable/disable emergency lighting, double-press the LIGHT EFFECT button.
  • To turn off the lights completely, press and hold the LIGHT EFFECT button for 1.5 seconds.

Using the Microphone

The ES20 has a built-in MEMS microphone for hands-free calling. When connected to your phone via Bluetooth:

  • Answer a Call: Press the POWER button once.
  • Hang Up: Press the POWER button again.
  • Reject a Call: Press and hold the POWER button.

Using the EDIFIER ConneX App

For advanced features and customization, download the EDIFIER ConneX app. Connect your device to the speaker via Bluetooth, then open the app.

The app allows you to:

  • Control playback and volume.
  • Switch sound effects (Music, Game, Movie, Outdoor).
  • Customize light effects.
  • Upgrade firmware.
  • Access user manual and other settings.

Charging the Speaker

The ES20 speaker is equipped with a built-in Lithium Ion battery, providing up to 15 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge.

  1. Connect the included USB-C to USB-C cable to the charging port on the side of the speaker.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power adapter (5V/2A output recommended).
  3. The battery indicator lights on the top panel will show the charging status.
  4. When fully charged, the battery indicator will turn solid white.

Using the Strap

The ES20 comes with a strap for easy carrying and portability. Attach the strap to the designated loop on the side of the speaker.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the speaker. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Water Exposure: The speaker is IP67 rated, meaning it is dustproof and can be submerged in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed before exposing it to water. After water exposure, dry the speaker thoroughly before charging.
  • Storage: Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
No sound
  • Ensure the speaker is powered on and charged.
  • Check if the volume is turned up on both the speaker and your connected device.
  • Verify that the speaker is correctly paired via Bluetooth.
Cannot pair via Bluetooth
  • Ensure the speaker is in pairing mode (blinking blue indicator).
  • Turn off and on Bluetooth on your device.
  • Try resetting the speaker to factory settings (see "Factory Reset" section).
  • Ensure no other devices are actively connected to the speaker.
Poor sound quality
  • Move the speaker closer to your device to reduce interference.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the speaker and your device.
  • Check the audio source quality.
Speaker automatically turns off
  • The speaker has an auto-off feature after 30 minutes of inactivity (no audio/user operation) if not charging. Disable this in the EDIFIER ConneX app if desired.
  • The battery might be low. Charge the speaker.

Factory Reset

If you encounter persistent issues or wish to clear all settings, you can reset the speaker to its factory defaults:

  • Press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons on the speaker simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  • Alternatively, open the EDIFIER ConneX app, go to "My Device" > "Factory settings" and confirm the reset.
