3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Raddy WS-74 irrigation system:

Eight-step visual guide for setting up the Raddy WS-74 irrigation system, including setting schedule, connecting solar panel, inserting water pipe, attaching check valve, connecting pipes, attaching filter, inserting dripper, and installing sealing end.

Figure 3: Easy Setup Guide.

  1. Plan Your Layout: Determine the placement of your plants and the water source. For optimal performance, keep all pots at roughly the same height, and ensure the highest pot is no more than 3 meters (10 feet) above the pump. For plants requiring more water, consider placing them closer to the pump or using 2-3 drippers per pot.
  2. Connect Solar Panel: Attach the solar panel to its bracket and position it in a shadow-free area to maximize sunlight exposure. Connect the solar panel cable to the main unit.
  3. Prepare Water Inlet: Insert one end of the 1/4" pipe into the water inlet port of the main unit. Attach the filter to the other end of this pipe and place it securely in your water reservoir (e.g., a bucket). Ensure the filter remains submerged.
  4. Install Anti-Siphon Device: Install the check valve (anti-siphon device) at the water outlet of the main unit. Ensure it is positioned above the water level of your reservoir to prevent backflow, leaks, and overwatering.
  5. Connect Distribution Pipes: Cut the 1/4" pipe to the required lengths for your plant layout. Use the T-barb connectors and cross connectors to create a network that reaches all your plants. Secure all connections firmly.
  6. Insert Drippers: Insert a micro dripper into the soil of each potted plant. Ensure the dripper is placed near the plant's roots for efficient water delivery.
  7. Seal Ends: Use the sealing ends to close off any unused pipe branches at the end of your irrigation lines.

4. Operating Instructions

The Raddy WS-74 offers flexible watering options through its integrated controls and smart app.

4.1 Intelligent Watering System

The system features both time-based scheduling and smart soil moisture detection.

  • Scheduling: Set watering durations from 0 seconds to 30 minutes and watering intervals from 1 hour to 30 days.
  • Smart Soil Sensor: The anti-corrosion soil moisture sensor triggers irrigation only when the soil is dry, preventing overwatering. You can preset moisture levels between 30% and 80% to suit different plant types.

4.2 Adjustable Water Flow

A built-in regulating valve allows you to adjust the water flow rate to individual plants or sections of your irrigation system.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Raddy WS-74 system.

  • Clean Water Filter: Periodically check and clean the water filter to prevent blockages and ensure consistent water flow. A floating filter can affect suction; ensure it remains submerged.
  • Inspect for Leaks: Regularly check all pipe connections and the regulating valve for any leaks. Ensure the O-ring inside the regulating valve is properly seated to prevent drips.
  • Solar Panel Care: Keep the solar panel clean and free from dust or debris to maintain charging efficiency.
  • Pipe Algae Prevention: While the system uses clear piping, which can be prone to algae buildup in direct sunlight, regular flushing or using an opaque cover for exposed sections can help mitigate this.
  • Winter Storage: If using outdoors in cold climates, bring the unit indoors during winter to prevent potential battery damage from freezing temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
System not wateringLow water in reservoir; Clogged filter; Low battery; Incorrect schedule setting.Replenish water; Clean filter; Charge battery via solar or USB-C; Verify schedule in app or on unit.
Water not reaching all plants evenlyUneven plant height; Insufficient drippers for thirsty plants; Blocked drippers.Ensure plants are at similar heights (max 3m vertical lift); Add more drippers for larger/thirstier plants; Clean or replace drippers.
Water leaks from connectionsLoose pipe connections; Damaged O-ring in regulating valve; Improper anti-siphon device installation.Tighten all pipe connections; Inspect and reseat/replace O-ring; Ensure anti-siphon device is above water level.
App not connecting to deviceIncorrect WiFi password; Device not in pairing mode; WiFi signal issues.Re-enter WiFi password; Ensure device is in pairing mode (blinking indicator); Check WiFi signal strength near the unit.
Algae buildup in clear pipesExposure to sunlight.Regularly flush pipes; Cover exposed clear pipe sections with opaque material.
