3. Setup and Installation
Setting up your CPVAN Home Alarm System is a straightforward DIY process. Follow these steps for proper installation:
3.1 Powering the Host Unit
- Connect the provided Type-C cable to the PIR Motion Detector (Host).
- Plug the USB-A end of the cable into a wall adapter (not included) or a USB power source.
- Ensure the host unit is always connected to AC power for continuous operation. The included AA batteries serve as a backup for up to 8 hours in case of a power or Wi-Fi outage.

3.2 Mounting the PIR Motion Detector (Host)
The host unit can be wall-mounted or placed on a flat surface. It features a wide detection range:
- The infrared window detects motion up to 8 meters (approximately 26 feet) and within a 110° angle.
- You can use the provided wall anchors and screws for a secure mount or the double-sided adhesive pads for a less permanent solution.

3.3 Installing Door/Window Sensors
Each door/window sensor consists of two magnetic parts. They should be installed on the frame and the moving part of the door or window, ensuring they are within 1 inch of each other when closed.
- Remove the pull tab from the battery compartment of each sensor to activate it.
- Use the provided adhesive pads to attach one part of the sensor to the door/window frame and the other part to the door/window itself.
- Ensure the two parts are aligned and close enough (within 1 inch) when the door/window is closed for proper operation.

3.4 App Integration (Smartlife APP)
The system is controlled via the Smartlife APP. Download the app from your smartphone's app store and follow the in-app instructions to connect your alarm host and sensors.
- The app allows you to easily switch between Arm, Disarm, and Home modes.
- You can add up to 24 door/window sensors and 10 remotes to the central alarm host.

4. Operating Modes
The CPVAN Home Alarm System offers several operating modes to suit your security needs:
- Arm Mode: Activates all sensors. If a door/window is opened or motion is detected, the alarm will sound and you will receive a push notification.
- Disarm Mode: Deactivates the alarm. Sensors can be set to a "welcome" status to emit a chime when a door is opened, even when disarmed.
- Home Mode: Allows you to disarm interior sensors while keeping exterior sensors armed, ideal for when you are home.
- SOS Button: On the remote control, pressing the SOS button will immediately trigger the alarm.

4.1 Infrared Detection Window
The infrared detection window on the host unit can be toggled on or off via the Smartlife APP. This allows you to disable motion detection when you are home and enable it when you leave.

5. Alerts and Notifications
When the alarm is triggered, the host unit emits a loud 120-decibel alarm to deter intruders. Simultaneously, push notifications are sent to your smartphone via the Smartlife APP, keeping you instantly informed.
In the event of a power or Wi-Fi outage, the alarm system will continue to function for up to 8 hours on its backup battery power. The 120dB alarm will still sound if motion is detected or a door/window is opened. However, app alerts will not be sent without a Wi-Fi connection.
6. Troubleshooting
- No App Alerts: Ensure your Wi-Fi connection is stable. App alerts require an active Wi-Fi connection. The system will still alarm locally during an outage.
- Sensor Not Triggering: Check the alignment and distance between the two parts of the door/window sensor. They must be within 1 inch when closed. Ensure the battery pull tab has been removed.
- False Alarms (Motion Sensor): Adjust the placement of the PIR motion sensor to avoid areas with frequent movement (e.g., pets, curtains near vents). You can also turn off the infrared detection window via the app when you are home.
- Host Unit Not Powering On: Verify the Type-C cable is securely connected to both the host unit and a working power source. Check the AA backup batteries.
- Remote Control Not Working: Ensure the remote's battery is active (remove pull tab if new). Try re-pairing the remote with the host unit via the Smartlife APP.
