3. Setup

Power Connection:

  • Ensure the welder is connected to a power source matching the selected voltage (110V or 220V).
  • Use the provided power cord adapter if necessary.

Gas Connection (for TIG Welding):

  • Connect the gas hose from the welder to your shielding gas cylinder (e.g., Argon for TIG).
  • Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.

Torch and Ground Clamp Connection:

  • Connect the TIG torch to the appropriate port on the front panel.
  • Connect the ground clamp cable to the designated ground terminal.
  • Attach the ground clamp securely to the workpiece or welding table.

Foot Pedal (Optional):

If using a foot pedal (not included), connect it to the designated port on the welder. This allows for remote amperage control during welding.

4. Operating Modes

The TOOLIOM TL-200TP ACDC PRO offers six distinct welding modes, providing flexibility for various materials and applications.

Six panels illustrating the different welding modes: AC HF TIG, AC Pulsed TIG, Spot TIG, DC HF TIG, DC Pulsed TIG, and Stick welding.
Figure 4.1: Overview of the 6-in-1 versatile welding modes.

4.1. AC TIG Welding (High Frequency)

Ideal for welding aluminum and magnesium alloys. The alternating current helps to break up the oxide layer on aluminum, ensuring a clean weld. High Frequency (HF) start provides a non-contact arc initiation.

4.2. DC TIG Welding (High Frequency)

Suitable for welding stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, and other non-ferrous metals (excluding aluminum). Provides a stable arc and precise control for thin materials.

4.3. AC Pulsed TIG Welding

Combines AC TIG with a pulsed current, offering enhanced control over heat input. This is particularly useful for welding thin aluminum, reducing distortion, and achieving a consistent bead appearance.

4.4. DC Pulsed TIG Welding

Similar to AC Pulsed TIG but for DC weldable metals. The pulsing action helps to control the weld puddle, minimize heat input, and improve penetration, resulting in cleaner and stronger welds on materials like stainless steel.

4.5. TIG Spot Welding

Used for quickly joining two pieces of thin metal at specific points. This mode provides a controlled burst of current for precise, localized welds, often used for tacking or sheet metal fabrication.

4.6. Stick Welding (MMA/SMAW)

A versatile process for general fabrication and repair, using coated electrodes. This mode is suitable for a variety of materials and thicknesses, especially in outdoor or less controlled environments.

Aluminum Welding Specifics:

The TL-200TP ACDC PRO is highly capable for aluminum welding. For optimal results, ensure proper AC balance and use appropriate filler metal and tungsten.

  • Max welding thickness for aluminum: 1/8" (3mm) @ 110V and 3/16" (5mm) @ 220V.
  • Min welding thickness: 24 GA (0.5mm).

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your welding machine.

Cleaning:

  • Periodically clean the exterior of the welder with a dry, soft cloth.
  • Use compressed air to blow out dust and debris from the cooling vents. Ensure the power is disconnected before cleaning.

Torch Consumables:

  • Regularly inspect and replace worn-out TIG torch consumables (collets, collet bodies, gas nozzles, back caps, and tungsten electrodes).
  • Ensure proper assembly of the TIG torch components for consistent gas flow and arc stability.
