Note: 2 x 1.5V 'AA' Alkaline Batteries are NOT included and must be purchased separately.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The timer requires two 1.5V 'AA' alkaline batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
  2. Slide the battery cover open. The cover is designed for a snug fit to ensure weather resistance.
  3. Insert two new 1.5V 'AA' alkaline batteries, observing the positive (+) and negative (-) markings inside the compartment.
  4. Securely close the battery cover to maintain the waterproof seal.

2. Connecting to Faucet

The timer is designed for tool-free installation on a standard 3/4" faucet.

  1. Ensure the mesh filter is properly seated in the brass inlet of the timer. This prevents clogging.
  2. If experiencing leaks from the inlet side, use the included O-ring gasket inside the inlet where the mesh filter is located.
  3. Apply the provided Teflon tape to the threads of your outdoor faucet for an extra secure and leak-free connection.
  4. Screw the timer's brass inlet onto your 3/4" outdoor faucet by hand until it is snug. Do not overtighten.
  5. Connect your garden hoses to the three independent outlets (Zone A, Zone B, Zone C) at the bottom of the timer.

Operating Instructions

The XinFuture timer features a user-friendly interface with a large LCD display, a rotary dial, and intuitive buttons for easy programming.

Understanding the Display and Controls

  • LCD Display: Shows current time, watering information (time, frequency), battery level, and active zone.
  • Rotary Dial: Used to select different programming modes: ON, OFF, SET CLOCK, START TIME, HOW LONG, HOW OFTEN.
  • '+' / '-': Adjust values (time, duration, frequency).
  • A/B/C: Selects the watering zone (Zone A, Zone B, or Zone C) to program or view. Press repeatedly to cycle through zones.
  • DELAY: Activates the rain delay function.
  • OK/Water: Confirms settings or initiates manual watering.

1. Setting the Clock

  1. Turn the rotary dial to SET CLOCK.
  2. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the current time.
  3. Press OK/Water to confirm and move to the next setting (e.g., AM/PM or minutes).
  4. Once the time is set, press OK/Water again or turn the dial to another mode.

2. Programming Watering Schedules (Auto Mode)

You can set independent schedules for each of the three zones (A, B, C).

  1. Press the A/B/C button repeatedly to select the zone you wish to program (e.g., "NOW A", "NOW B", "NOW C").
  2. Turn the rotary dial to START TIME. Use '+' and '-' to set the desired start time for watering. Press OK/Water to confirm.
  3. Turn the dial to HOW LONG. Use '+' and '-' to set the watering duration (1 to 360 minutes). Press OK/Water to confirm.
  4. Turn the dial to HOW OFTEN. Use '+' and '-' to set the watering frequency (1 to 23 hours or 1 to 15 days). Press OK/Water to confirm.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for other zones if needed.
  6. Once all settings are complete, turn the dial to ON to activate the programmed schedule.

3. Manual Watering

This mode allows you to water immediately without interrupting your programmed schedule.

  1. Ensure the dial is set to ON.
  2. Press the A/B/C button to select the desired zone for manual watering.
  3. Press and hold the OK/Water button for a few seconds until the water starts flowing.
  4. The display will show the remaining manual watering time. Use '+' and '-' to adjust the duration (1 to 360 minutes) if needed.
  5. To stop manual watering, press the OK/Water button again or turn the dial to OFF.

4. Rain Delay Mode

The rain delay function allows you to pause your watering schedule for a set period, conserving water during rainfall.

  1. Ensure the dial is set to ON.
  2. Press the DELAY button. The display will show "DELAY" and a default delay period.
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the delay period (e.g., 24 hours, 48 hours, up to 7 days).
  4. Press OK/Water to confirm the rain delay. The timer will resume its programmed schedule after the delay period ends.
  5. To cancel the rain delay, press the DELAY button again.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD display. Always use new 1.5V 'AA' alkaline batteries.
  • Cleaning: Periodically check the mesh filter in the inlet for debris and clean it to ensure proper water flow. Wipe the exterior of the timer with a damp cloth; do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Winterization: Before the first frost, disconnect the timer from the faucet and hoses. Drain any remaining water from the unit. Store the timer indoors in a dry, frost-free location to prevent damage from freezing temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
  • Leak Prevention: Always ensure the O-ring gasket and Teflon tape are properly used during installation to prevent leaks. Replace worn-out gaskets as needed.
