1. Introduction

The MT-VIKI HDMI Splitter Extended Display (Model MT-CH2H) is designed to expand your display capabilities, allowing you to connect two external monitors to your laptop or desktop computer via USB 3.0 or USB-C. This adapter supports resolutions up to 4K@30Hz on Output 1 and 1080P@60Hz on Output 2, enabling both mirrored and extended display modes for enhanced productivity. It is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Driver Installation (Required)

This device is not plug-and-play. A Siliconmotion driver installation is required for proper functionality. Please follow these steps:

1. Disable Antivirus Software: Temporarily close any antivirus software before downloading and installing the driver to prevent interference. The software is virus-free.
2. Download Driver: Visit the official MT-VIKI website or the provided link in the included user manual to download the appropriate Siliconmotion driver for your operating system (Windows or Mac OS).
3. Install Driver: Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver. You may need to restart your computer after installation.

For USB-C connections, ensure your port is a Thunderbolt 3/4 port for optimal performance and compatibility.

3.2 Physical Connection

Once the driver is installed, connect the adapter as follows:

1. Connect the USB 3.0 or USB-C end of the provided cable to an available port on your laptop or desktop computer. The adapter features a hybrid 2-in-1 cable supporting both USB-A and USB-C.
2. Connect your primary monitor to the HDMI Output 1 port on the MT-VIKI adapter. This port supports up to 4K@30Hz.
3. Connect your secondary monitor to the HDMI Output 2 port on the MT-VIKI adapter. This port supports up to 1080P@60Hz.

4. Operating Modes

The MT-VIKI HDMI Splitter supports both Mirror Mode and Extended Mode.

4.1 Mirror Mode

In Mirror Mode, all connected displays (laptop screen and external monitors) show the same content. This is useful for presentations or sharing content.

4.2 Extended Mode

In Extended Mode, each connected display shows different content, effectively expanding your desktop workspace. This is ideal for multitasking and improving productivity.

4.3 Display Settings Configuration

After connecting the adapter and monitors, configure your display settings:

• Windows: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings." In the "Display" section, click on one of the monitors, then scroll down to "Multiple Displays" and select the desired mode (Extend these displays, Duplicate these displays, etc.) from the dropdown list.
• Mac OS: Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner, select "System Preferences," then click "Displays," and choose "Display Preferences." Click "Arrangement" to rearrange the position of your displays or select mirroring options.
• Android: Android devices only support mirroring mode with resolutions up to 1080P.

5. Important Notes and Compatibility

• HDCP Content: This adapter does not support playback of HDCP-protected content from services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, etc. Attempting to play such content may result in a blank screen on connected monitors.
• Unsupported Operating Systems: iOS, Linux, Unix, and TV BOX systems are not supported by this device.
• Laptop Compatibility: Popular laptop models compatible include M1/M2 & Intel Based MacBook Air/Pro, Dell XPS, Precision, Thinkbook, Ideapad, HP Spectre, X360, ENVY. If you are unsure about your device's compatibility, please contact MT-VIKI support.
• Resolution Limitations: The adapter cannot support 8K resolution. Output 1 supports up to 4K@30Hz, and Output 2 supports up to 1080P@60Hz.
• Multi-Monitor Expansion: For Windows, you can expand up to 8 displays using a USB hub. For Mac OS, you can expand up to 6 displays.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, please refer to the following common solutions:

• No Display/Black Screen:
  • Ensure the Siliconmotion driver is correctly installed. Reinstall if necessary, following the steps in Section 3.1.
  • Verify all cables (USB and HDMI) are securely connected.
  • Check your computer's display settings to ensure the monitors are detected and configured for the desired mode (Extended or Mirror).
  • Confirm your laptop's USB-C port supports Thunderbolt 3/4 if using a USB-C connection.
  • If playing protected content (Netflix, Hulu), this device does not support HDCP, which will result in a black screen.
• Incorrect Resolution or Refresh Rate:
  • Adjust display settings in your operating system. Ensure Output 1 is set to 4K@30Hz or lower, and Output 2 to 1080P@60Hz or lower.
  • Ensure your monitors support the selected resolutions and refresh rates.
• Lag or Performance Issues:
  • Ensure you are using a USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt 3/4 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports may not provide sufficient bandwidth.
  • Close unnecessary applications to free up system resources.
• Driver Installation Failure:
  • Temporarily disable antivirus software during installation.
  • Download the latest driver version from the official MT-VIKI website.
