4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Component Installation
- CPU Installation: Carefully align your Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor with the LGA 1851 socket. Ensure the CPU is seated correctly before closing the retention mechanism.
- RAM Installation: Insert DDR5 memory modules into the DIMM slots. For dual-channel performance, refer to the motherboard's manual for recommended slot configurations.

4.2.1 USB BIOS Flashback Method
This method allows you to update the BIOS without a CPU, RAM, or graphics card installed. You will need a USB drive formatted to FAT32 with at least 32GB of space.
- Prepare a USB drive (FAT32, at least 32GB).
- Download the latest BIOS file from the official ASRock website for your specific motherboard model.
- Extract the downloaded zip file and rename the BIOS ROM file to "CREATIVE.ROM".
- Copy "CREATIVE.ROM" to the root directory of your FAT32 formatted USB drive.
- Ensure the system is powered off. Connect the power supply to the motherboard but do not power on the system.
- Insert the USB drive into the designated USB BIOS Flashback port on the rear I/O panel (refer to your motherboard manual for exact location).
- Press and hold the USB BIOS Flashback button on the rear I/O for approximately 3 seconds until the LED light starts to blink.
- Wait until the LED stops blinking, indicating the BIOS update is complete. This may take a few minutes.
- Power on the system and enter the BIOS setup menu (usually by pressing F2 or Delete during POST) to verify the updated BIOS version.

4.2.2 Instant Flash Method
This method requires the system to be operational and allows you to update the BIOS from within the UEFI BIOS utility.
- Prepare a USB drive (FAT32, at least 32GB).
- Download the latest BIOS file from the official ASRock website for your specific motherboard model.
- Extract the downloaded zip file and copy the BIOS ROM file (e.g., B860LightningWiFi.ROM) to the root directory of your FAT32 formatted USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into any available USB port on the motherboard.
- Power on the system and press F2 or Delete during POST to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- Navigate to the 'Tool' menu and select 'Instant Flash'.
- Confirm any notices (e.g., BitLocker suspension) and proceed.
- Instant Flash will automatically detect suitable BIOS versions on your USB drive. Select the correct BIOS file and confirm the update.
- Do not power off the system during the UEFI update. Once complete, the system will prompt you to reboot.
