4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Flash Levels

To power on the ZF08, long-press the power button. The flash offers five levels of adjustable output, ranging from 1/1 (full power) to 1/16. Short-press the flash level button to cycle through these power settings. The LED indicators on the flash will show the current power level. Long-press the power button again to turn off the device.

4.2 Test Flash

After powering on the flash, you can perform a test flash by short-pressing the power button. This allows you to verify the flash output before taking a photo.

4.3 Shutter Speed Synchronization

The ZF08 syncs with your camera's shutter. The flash sync speed is 1/200s. When shooting above the camera's maximum flash sync speed, black borders may appear in your photos. If this occurs, reduce the shutter speed by one stop until the black borders disappear.

4.4 Diffuser Usage

The ZF08 comes with a diffuser. Attach the diffuser to the flash head to soften the light output, which can be beneficial for portraits or reducing harsh shadows.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ZENIKO ZF08 Mini Camera Flash Speedlite, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the flash unit. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the flash in its provided carrying bag when not in use to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: The built-in lithium battery benefits from regular use. If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to maintain its health. The automatic sleep mode helps conserve battery life during inactivity.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Flash Not Firing

  • Ensure the flash is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
  • Check if the flash is powered on and has sufficient battery charge (indicated by green LEDs).
  • Verify camera compatibility (refer to Section 3.3).

6.2 Black Borders in Photos

  • This typically occurs when the camera's shutter speed exceeds the flash's maximum sync speed (1/200s).
  • Adjust your camera's shutter speed to 1/200s or slower to eliminate black borders.

6.3 Low Battery Indication

When the battery is low, the LED indicators on the flash may blink red or show fewer green lights. Recharge the flash using the provided USB Type-C cable.
