1. Safety Information

3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. Keep packaging materials until you are satisfied with the product.

3.2 Battery Installation

Ensure the trimmer is turned off. Align the Makita 18V battery (not included) with the battery slot on the trimmer handle. Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

3.3 Handle and Shaft Assembly

The trimmer features a folding design for compact storage. To assemble for use, unfold the shaft until it locks into place. Adjust the height of the handle by loosening the locking mechanism, extending or retracting the shaft to your desired length (50 to 60 inches), and then securing the lock. Ensure all connections are tight before operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting the Trimmer

With a charged battery installed, press the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger to start the motor. Release the trigger to stop the motor.

4.2 Trimming Mode

Hold the trimmer comfortably with both hands. Keep the cutting head parallel to the ground. Move the trimmer in a sweeping motion, cutting small amounts of grass at a time. The 11-inch cutting width allows for efficient coverage.

4.3 Edging Mode

To convert to edging mode, adjust the head and handle. The head can tilt up to 75 degrees and the handle can rotate 90 degrees. Position the trimmer so the cutting line is vertical to the edge of your lawn or pathway. Walk slowly, guiding the trimmer along the edge.

4.4 Mowing Mode

For light mowing tasks, adjust the trimmer head to a suitable angle and use the integrated wheels (if applicable) to guide the trimmer across small lawn areas. This mode is ideal for areas where a traditional lawn mower is too large or cumbersome.

4.5 Adjusting Head and Handle

The trimmer head can be adjusted to various angles up to 75 degrees by pressing the release button and rotating. The auxiliary handle can be rotated 90 degrees for comfortable edging. Always ensure adjustments are securely locked before operation.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the trimmer. Remove any grass clippings, dirt, or debris from the cutting head, guard, and ventilation slots using a brush or cloth. Do not use water or harsh chemicals.

5.2 Line Replacement

When the cutting line wears down, replace it according to the instructions provided with your replacement line or by consulting the product's online resources. Use only the recommended line diameter (0.11 inches).

5.3 Storage

Store the trimmer in a dry, secure location out of reach of children. The folding design allows for compact storage, reducing its length to 28 inches. Remove the battery before storing for extended periods.
