Setup and Assembly

The Cordless String Trimmer requires minimal assembly before first use. Follow these steps to set up your device.

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Ensure all components listed in the user manual are present.
2. Attach Guard: Secure the protective guard to the trimmer head using the provided screws. This guard helps protect against debris during operation.
3. Install Trimmer Line: Insert the provided trimmer lines into the designated slots on the trimmer head. Ensure they are securely fastened.
4. Assemble Shaft: Connect the two sections of the shaft. The folding design allows for compact storage and easy extension for use.
5. Attach Handle: Secure the auxiliary handle to the shaft at a comfortable height. This handle can be adjusted and tilted for optimal control.
6. Install Edger Wheel (Optional): If using the edger function, attach the edger wheel to the trimmer head as shown in the diagram.
7. Insert Battery: Insert a fully charged Dewalt 20V battery into the battery slot on the main handle. The power display will activate upon insertion.

Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure you have read and understood all safety information.

Starting the Trimmer:

• Press the safety lock button, then squeeze the trigger to start the trimmer.
• The battery level display on the handle will show the current charge level.

Using as a String Trimmer:

• Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
• Maintain a comfortable distance from the cutting head.
• Move the trimmer in a sweeping motion across the area to be trimmed.
• Adjust the shaft length (50" to 60") and handle tilt (90°) for optimal comfort and reach.

Using as an Edger:

• Tilt the trimmer head 75° and engage the edger wheel (if attached).
• Guide the edger wheel along the edge of sidewalks, driveways, or flower beds for a clean, precise cut.

Using as a Lawn Mower:

• For light mowing tasks, hold the trimmer parallel to the ground.
• Move the trimmer steadily over the grass, ensuring even coverage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer.

• Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the trimmer head and guard. Remove any grass clippings, dirt, or debris.
• Trimmer Line Replacement: Replace worn or broken trimmer lines as needed. Refer to the assembly video (Video 1) for detailed instructions on how to install new lines.
• Storage: For long-term storage, fold the trimmer to its compact size (28 inches) and store it in a dry, secure location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your trimmer, refer to the following common solutions:

• Trimmer not starting:
  • Ensure the Dewalt 20V battery is fully charged and properly inserted.
  • Check that the safety lock button is pressed before squeezing the trigger.
• Poor cutting performance:
  • Inspect the trimmer lines for wear or breakage and replace if necessary.
  • Clear any tangled grass or debris from the trimmer head.
• Excessive vibration:
  • Ensure the trimmer lines are evenly installed and balanced.
