3.2 Power Connection

  1. Ensure the Multi/Poly module is switched off.
  2. Connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC 12V input jack on the rear panel of the module.
  3. Plug the AC adapter into a suitable power outlet.

3.3 Audio Output Connection

The Multi/Poly features balanced output jacks for high-quality audio. Connect these to your mixer, audio interface, or amplifier.

  1. Connect 1/4-inch TRS cables from the L/MONO and R OUTPUT jacks on the rear panel to the corresponding inputs on your audio system.
  2. If using a mono setup, connect only the L/MONO output.

3.4 MIDI and USB Connections

The Multi/Poly supports both traditional MIDI DIN connections and USB MIDI for integration with other instruments and computers.

  1. MIDI DIN: Connect MIDI cables from the MIDI OUT/IN ports of your external MIDI device (e.g., keyboard controller) to the MIDI IN/OUT ports on the Multi/Poly module.
  2. USB: Connect a USB cable from the USB port on the Multi/Poly to a USB port on your computer. This enables MIDI communication and potential software integration.

4. Operating the Multi/Poly

4.1 Overview of Controls

The front panel of the Multi/Poly is designed for intuitive sound design and performance. It features dedicated knobs and buttons for various parameters, minimizing menu diving. The central display provides visual feedback for settings and program information.

4.2 60 Voice Virtual Engine

The core of the Multi/Poly is its 60-voice virtual engine. Each voice is equipped with its own modeled oscillators, filters, envelopes, and LFOs, allowing for complex and rich analog-style soundscapes. This architecture provides extensive polyphony and sonic depth.

4.3 4-Layer Performance Mode

The 4-Layer Performance Mode enables you to layer or split up to four individual Programs. This feature allows for the creation of dynamic and evolving textures, with round-robin rotation for added complexity and variation in your sound.

4.4 Deep Analog Modeling

The Multi/Poly offers comprehensive analog modeling capabilities, including:

  • Oscillators: Four distinct oscillator types provide a wide range of foundational waveforms.
  • Filters: Eight different filter models allow for extensive tonal shaping.
  • Portamento: Six portamento modes offer various glide characteristics between notes.
  • Modulation: Flexible modulation routing allows for intricate sound design.

4.5 Motion Sequencing 2.0 & Kaoss Physics

Enhance your performances with advanced control features:

  • Motion Sequencing 2.0: Automate various parameters over time, creating evolving and rhythmic changes to your sound.
  • Kaoss Physics: Utilize the integrated Kaoss pad for expressive, real-time control over multiple parameters simultaneously, adding dynamic and interactive elements to your music.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Korg Multi/Poly module.

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the module in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Connections: Periodically check all cable connections for secure fit and signs of wear.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Multi/Poly module, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the module and a working power outlet. Verify the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Sound Output: Check all audio cable connections. Verify the volume knob on the Multi/Poly and your audio system is turned up. Ensure the correct input is selected on your mixer or interface.
  • MIDI/USB Communication Issues: Confirm MIDI cables are connected correctly (OUT to IN, IN to OUT). For USB, ensure the correct drivers are installed on your computer (if required) and the Multi/Poly is recognized by your DAW or software. Check MIDI channel settings on both the module and external devices.
  • Unexpected Behavior: Try performing a factory reset (refer to the full Korg documentation for specific instructions, as this may erase user data).

If problems persist, contact Korg customer support or a qualified service technician.
