5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Jump Starting a Vehicle

Follow these steps carefully to jump start your vehicle:

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all accessories (lights, radio, etc.) are turned off. Engage the parking brake.
  2. Connect Smart Clamps: Plug the smart battery clamps into the jump starter's output port. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Connect to Vehicle Battery:
    • Connect the RED (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle's battery.
    • Connect the BLACK (-) clamp to a clean, unpainted metal part of the vehicle's engine block or chassis, away from the battery and fuel lines. Do not connect the black clamp directly to the negative terminal of the discharged battery.
  4. Check Indicator Lights: The smart clamps will have indicator lights. Wait for the green light to illuminate, indicating a safe and ready connection. If a red light or error signal appears, check connections and troubleshoot as per Section 7.
  5. Start the Vehicle: Once the green light is solid, start the vehicle's engine. If the vehicle does not start immediately, wait 30 seconds before attempting again. Do not crank for more than 3 seconds per attempt.
  6. Disconnect Clamps: As soon as the engine starts, immediately disconnect the BLACK (-) clamp from the vehicle chassis, then disconnect the RED (+) clamp from the battery terminal. Finally, unplug the smart clamps from the jump starter.
  7. Recharge Jump Starter: Recharge the jump starter as soon as possible after use.
