1. Introduction and Overview

The Normcore Pocket Coffee Scale V3 is a compact and precise digital scale designed for accurate coffee brewing, including pour-over and espresso methods. Its anodized aluminum body ensures durability, while the back-lit LCD display provides clear readings. This scale offers multi-mode functionality and a built-in timer to assist in achieving consistent and balanced coffee extractions.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the scale using the provided USB Type-C charging cable. Connect the cable to the USB-C port on the back of the scale and to a standard 5V/1A USB power adapter (not included). Avoid using fast charging adapters to prevent potential damage to the battery. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status.

3.2 Calibration

For optimal accuracy, it is recommended to calibrate the scale periodically or if you suspect inaccurate readings. Use the included 100-gram calibration weight.

  1. Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface and powered on.
  2. Press and hold the 'M' (Mode) button until "CAL" appears on the display.
  3. The display will then show "100.0g". Place the 100-gram calibration weight precisely in the center of the weighing platform.
  4. Wait for the display to stabilize and show "PASS". This indicates successful calibration.
  5. Remove the weight. The scale is now calibrated and ready for use.

The scale features multiple modes for different brewing methods. Use the 'M' (Mode) button to cycle through them.

4.3 Tare Function

The tare function allows you to reset the scale to zero after placing a container on it, so you only measure the weight of the contents. Briefly press the 'T' (Tare) button to activate the tare function. The display will show "0.0g".

4.4 Timer Function

In Pour Over and Espresso modes, the timer starts automatically when the scale detects the beginning of the pour or extraction. In Manual mode, the timer can be started and stopped manually by pressing the 'L' (Timer) button.

5.1 Cleaning

The scale features an easy-clean surface. Wipe the scale with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the scale in water or use abrasive cleaners. Ensure the USB-C port is dry before charging.

5.2 Charging

Recharge the scale when the battery indicator on the display shows low battery. Use the provided Type-C charging cable. A full charge provides up to 15 hours of detached working time.

5.3 Storage

When not in use, store the scale in its protective silicone case and the included carrying case to prevent scratches and damage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
