6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your kettle.
- Before Cleaning: Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and the power base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
- Interior Cleaning: Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water. For stubborn stains, use a soft sponge and mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. To descale:
- Fill the kettle with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar (or a commercial descaling solution) up to the MAX line.
- Boil the mixture and then let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup.
- Discard the mixture and rinse the kettle several times with fresh water to remove any vinegar odor or residue.
