Key Features:

  • Delayed Alert: Adjustable delay times of 1, 2, 3, or 4 minutes before the alarm sounds.
  • Volume Control: 5 levels of volume adjustment, from 0 dB (silent) to 120 dB.
  • Ringtone Modes: Two distinct modes: CHIME (a gentle alert) and ALARM (a loud siren).
  • Low Battery Warning: The alarm will beep for a shorter period when batteries are low, indicating replacement is needed.
  • Automatic Shut-off: Alarm stops after 30 minutes of continuous activation if the door remains open.

4. Setup & Installation

Follow these steps to install your Daytech DA10 door alarm:

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface where the alarm will be mounted is clean and dry.
  2. Attach Adhesive Tape: Apply the provided double-sided adhesive tape to the back of both the main unit and the magnetic strip.
  3. Position the Units: Carefully peel off the backing from the tape. Mount the main unit and the magnetic strip on the door and its frame (or two adjacent doors) so that the triangle marks on both units are aligned when the door is closed.
  4. Ensure Proper Gap: The distance between the main unit and the magnetic strip must be ≤ 0.98 inches (2.5 cm) when the door is closed for proper operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Selecting Ringtone Mode (CHIME/ALARM)

Use the 'CHIME/ALARM/OFF' switch on the side of the main unit to select your preferred alert sound. Slide the switch to 'CHIME' for a gentle notification or 'ALARM' for a louder, more urgent sound. The 'OFF' position disables the alarm.

5.2. Adjusting Volume

The alarm offers 5 adjustable volume levels, ranging from 0 dB (silent) to 120 dB. Use the volume buttons (+/-) on the side of the main unit to increase or decrease the sound level.

5.3. Setting Delay Time (Work Mode)

The alarm features four delay modes, allowing you to choose how long the door can remain open before an alert is triggered:

  • Mode 1 (1 Minute Delay): Alert after 60 seconds. Beeps every 15 seconds for 5 seconds until the door closes. Ideal for refrigerators or basement doors.
  • Mode 2 (2 Minute Delay): Alert after 2 minutes. Beeps every 10 seconds for 10 seconds until the door closes. Suitable for garages or shed doors.
  • Mode 3 (3 Minute Delay): Alert after 3 minutes. Beeps every 5 seconds for 15 seconds until the door closes. Useful for windows or cabinet doors.
  • Mode 4 (4 Minute Delay): Alert after 4 minutes. Beeps every 20 seconds for 15 seconds until the door closes. Applicable for office or shop doors.

To change the delay mode, press the 'Work Mode Set Key' on the side of the main unit. The number of beeps will confirm the selected mode (e.g., one beep for Mode 1, two beeps for Mode 2, etc.).

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

When the alarm unit emits shorter beeps, it indicates that the batteries are running low and need to be replaced. The unit requires 2 AAA batteries.

  1. Gently slide the battery cover downwards to open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert two new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks securely.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Alarm not sounding:
    • Check if the 'CHIME/ALARM/OFF' switch is in the 'OFF' position.
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
    • Verify that the main unit and magnetic strip are aligned and within the ≤ 0.98 inch (2.5 cm) distance when the door is closed.
  • Alarm sounds too frequently:
    • Adjust the delay time using the 'Work Mode Set Key' to a longer duration (e.g., 2, 3, or 4 minutes).
    • Ensure the door is fully closed and the units are properly aligned.
  • Alarm is too quiet/loud:
    • Adjust the volume using the +/- buttons on the side of the main unit.
