Setup

Initial Connection

The Keychron Q6 HE offers three connectivity options: 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.2, and wired USB-C.

  1. Wired Connection: Connect the provided Type-C to Type-C cable (or Type-A to Type-C adapter) from the keyboard to your computer's USB port. The keyboard will be powered and recognized automatically.
  2. 2.4 GHz Wireless Connection: Insert the 2.4 GHz receiver into an available USB-A port on your computer. Ensure the keyboard's mode switch is set to 'G' (Gaming/2.4GHz). The keyboard should connect automatically.
  3. Bluetooth Connection:
    • Set the keyboard's mode switch to 'BT' (Bluetooth).
    • On your computer or device, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
    • Press and hold the 'Fn' key along with '1', '2', or '3' for 4 seconds to enter pairing mode for the desired Bluetooth channel. The key's backlight will flash rapidly.
    • Select 'Keychron Q6 HE' from the list of available devices on your computer.
    • Once paired, the key's backlight will stop flashing. You can switch between paired devices by pressing 'Fn' + '1', '2', or '3'.

Operating System Switch

The keyboard has a dedicated switch to toggle between Windows/Android and Mac/iOS modes. Ensure this switch is set correctly for your operating system to ensure proper key mapping and functionality.

Basic Usage

The Keychron Q6 HE functions as a standard 100% layout keyboard. All keys are pre-programmed with their standard functions. The Hall Effect Gateron double-rail magnetic switches provide a responsive and consistent typing experience.

Function Keys

The top row of keys (F1-F12) serves as function keys. Depending on your operating system and settings, they may require pressing the 'Fn' key simultaneously to activate their secondary multimedia or system control functions.

Keycap and Switch Replacement

The Keychron Q6 HE features hot-swappable switches, allowing for easy replacement without soldering.

  2. Switch Removal: Use the provided switch puller to carefully grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull straight up.
  3. Installation: Align the new switch's pins with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure pins are not bent. Reattach keycaps by pressing them onto the switch stem.
