5. Maintenance
The Epoch LiFePO4 battery requires minimal maintenance due to its advanced design and built-in BMS. However, following these guidelines will ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the battery and its terminals clean and free of dirt, dust, and moisture. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
- Terminal Inspection: Periodically check battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Tighten if necessary.
- Storage: If storing the golf cart for an extended period, ensure the battery is charged to approximately 50-70% SOC. Disconnect the battery from the golf cart to prevent parasitic drain. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid Deep Discharge: While the BMS protects against over-discharge, it is best practice to recharge the battery before it reaches extremely low levels to maximize cycle life.
- Temperature: Operate and store the battery within its specified temperature ranges (refer to specifications section).
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For problems not listed here, please contact Epoch Batteries support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Battery not charging. | Charger not plugged in, faulty charger, loose connection, BMS protection activated. | Ensure charger is properly connected and plugged into a live outlet. Check all cable connections. If BMS protection is active (check app), disconnect load and allow battery to reset. Contact support if issue persists. |
| Golf cart not powering on. | Battery discharged, main power switch off, loose battery terminals, BMS protection activated. | Check battery SOC on LCD meter or app. Ensure main power switch/remote button is ON. Verify all battery terminal connections are tight. If BMS protection is active, charge the battery. |
| Bluetooth app not connecting. | Bluetooth off on device, battery not powered on, app issue. | Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device. Confirm the battery is powered on. Restart the app or your mobile device. Ensure you are within Bluetooth range. |
| Reduced range or power. | Battery not fully charged, aging battery, excessive load. | Ensure battery is fully charged before use. Review driving habits and reduce excessive loads if possible. If battery is old, consider its cycle life. |
