Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your ASHATA USB Extender:

  1. Position Units: Place the Transmitter unit near your host computers (PC1 and PC2) and the Receiver unit near your USB peripheral devices.
  2. Connect Host Computers to Transmitter:
    • Connect one end of a supplied USB cable to the USB-B port labeled "PC1" on the Transmitter unit. Connect the other end to a USB-A port on your first host computer.
    • If using a second host computer, repeat the process for the "PC2" port on the Transmitter.
  3. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect a single Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat7 Ethernet cable (not included) between the "CAT6" port on the Transmitter unit and the "CAT6" port on the Receiver unit. Ensure the cable is securely seated in both ports.
  4. Power the Receiver: Connect the provided 12V power adapter to the "DC/12V" port on the Receiver unit. Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet. The receiver unit requires external power for operation.
  5. Connect USB Peripherals to Receiver: Connect your USB 2.0 devices (e.g., keyboard, mouse, webcam, printer) to the four "USB 2.0" ports on the Receiver unit.
  6. Power the Transmitter: The Transmitter unit is powered directly by the USB host port(s) from your connected computers. No external power adapter is needed for the transmitter.

Operating Instructions

Once the setup is complete, the ASHATA USB Extender is ready for use. It operates on a plug-and-play basis, requiring no driver installation for most operating systems.

Switching Between Host Computers

The extender functions as a USB switch, allowing you to share the connected USB 2.0 devices between two host computers (PC1 and PC2).

  • To switch the shared USB devices to PC1, press the "Select" button on the Transmitter unit until the indicator for PC1 is active.
  • To switch the shared USB devices to PC2, press the "Select" button on the Transmitter unit until the indicator for PC2 is active.

The connected USB peripherals will now be accessible by the selected host computer.

Using USB Peripherals

All four USB 2.0 ports on the Receiver unit can be used simultaneously. The extender supports a wide range of USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 peripheral devices, including but not limited to:

  • Keyboards and Mice
  • Webcams (supports two webcams working in sync; for optimal performance with multiple webcams, software like "Webcam Pro" is recommended)
  • Printers
  • USB Flash Drives
  • Game Controllers
  • Other USB 2.0 compatible devices
