1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the device using the provided USB cable. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the device's USB port and the large end to a USB charging port (e.g., computer, wall adapter).

4.2 Powering On/Off

To power on the device, press and hold the power button located on the side until the screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button until the power-off prompt appears, then confirm.

4.3 Course Selection

  1. Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky to acquire GPS satellites.
  2. From the main menu, select 'Play Golf'.
  3. The device will automatically detect nearby golf courses. Select your desired course from the list.
  4. The device will display the current hole and relevant yardages.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Viewing Yardages and Hazards

The main screen displays distances to the front, middle, and back of the green. Use the up/down buttons to scroll through different views, including hazards (e.g., bunkers, water) and doglegs. The device automatically transitions to the next hole as you advance on the course.

5.2 Green View and Pin Placement

Access the Green View feature to see the true shape of the green. You can manually move the pin position on the screen to get more accurate distances to the day's flag location.

5.3 Pairing with Garmin Golf App

For additional features like wind speed/direction, live scoring, and the 'Find My Garmin' function, pair your Approach G20 Solar with the Garmin Golf smartphone app via Bluetooth. Follow the app's instructions for pairing.

5.4 Mounting the Device

The device features a built-in magnet for easy attachment to a golf cart frame. Alternatively, use the included belt clip to secure the device to your belt or clothing.

5.5 Automatic Shot Tracking (with CT10 Sensors)

If using compatible Approach CT10 club tracking sensors (sold separately), the device can automatically record shot locations and club used. Refer to the CT10 sensor manual for pairing and usage instructions.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the device using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. Wipe it dry. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents that can damage plastic components.
  • Water Resistance: The device is rated to IPX7, meaning it can withstand incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Avoid prolonged submersion.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Solar Charging: For optimal solar charging, ensure the solar panel on the device has direct exposure to sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the device is fully charged. If the issue persists, try connecting it to a different USB port or charger.
  • GPS Signal Not Acquired: Ensure the device has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid using it indoors or under heavy tree cover. Allow several minutes for satellite acquisition.
  • Incorrect Course/Hole Display: Verify that the device has successfully acquired a GPS signal. If the course or hole is incorrect, manually select the correct course from the menu. Ensure course updates are performed regularly via the Garmin Golf app.
  • Battery Draining Quickly: Reduce screen brightness. Ensure the solar panel is exposed to sunlight during play. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background.
  • Device Not Connecting to Garmin Golf App: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the device and your smartphone. Make sure the device is within range of your smartphone. Try restarting both devices and the app.
