2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when installing and operating your ebike conversion kit. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Ensure all connections are secure and waterproof before riding, especially in wet conditions.

  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including a helmet, when riding your ebike.
  • Regularly inspect your ebike for any loose parts, damaged wires, or unusual noises.
  • Avoid riding in heavy rain or submerging the motor in water.

4. Compatibility

Ensure your bicycle meets the following requirements for proper installation and function of the BAFANG Mid Drive Kit.

4.1 Motor Compatibility (Bottom Bracket)

The BAFANG M325/M625 motor is designed for bikes with a bottom bracket (BB) shell diameter of 34-36mm (1.34"-1.42") and a length of 68-73mm (2.68"-2.87").

Measure your bike's bottom bracket dimensions to confirm compatibility.

Conditions NOT suitable for BAFANG BBS Motor:

  • Bottom brackets with an inner diameter less than 33.5mm or greater than 36mm.
  • Bottom brackets with a length outside the 68-73mm range.
  • Bikes with a belt drive chainring.
  • Bikes with a coaster brake.

4.2 Battery Compatibility

The updated M625 motor removes communication protocol restrictions, allowing connection to various brand batteries. You can use downtube or rear rack batteries.

For Rear Rack Battery:

  • Check for existing installation screw holes on your bike's rear fork.
  • Verify the size of your rear fork, ensuring it accommodates the battery.

4.3 Brake System Compatibility

The kit typically includes default brake levers. If your bike uses a different brake system (e.g., hydraulic disc brake or shift integrated brake handle), you may need to contact customer support for a compatible brake sensor.

  7. Mount the battery securely to your bike frame (downtube or rear rack, depending on battery type).
  8. Connect the battery to the motor system.
  9. Perform a functional test of all components before riding.

6. Operating Modes

The BAFANG ebike kit offers multiple riding modes to suit various preferences and terrains:

  • E-bike Mode (Pure Electric): Provides power solely from the motor via the throttle, without requiring pedal input.
  • Pedal Assisted Mode (PAS): The motor provides assistance as you pedal. The level of assistance can typically be adjusted via the display.
  • Walk Assist Mode: Provides low-speed motor assistance (typically up to 6 km/h or 3.7 mph) to help you push the bike when walking alongside it.
  • Pure Pedal Bicycle Mode: The motor provides no assistance, and the bike functions as a traditional bicycle.
