4.3 Charging the Battery
Use the provided 36V 25A charger. It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge the 50AH battery. The charger's green light will remain solid when fully charged.
5. Maintenance
LiFePO4 batteries require minimal maintenance compared to lead-acid batteries. Follow these guidelines for optimal performance and longevity:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean as necessary.
- Temperature Management: Avoid operating or storing the battery in extreme temperatures. Refer to the specifications for recommended ranges.
- Charging Practices: Always use the specified charger. Avoid over-discharging the battery, though the BMS provides protection against this.
- Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% capacity and stored in a cool, dry place.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DC HOUSE battery, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
6.1 Battery Not Discharging/No Power Output
If the battery appears charged but provides no power at the terminals (e.g., multimeter reads less than 40V), the Battery Management System (BMS) discharge function may be off. This can occur if the battery was deeply discharged or due to a safety trigger.
- Download and Register App: Ensure you have the DC HOUSE app installed and have registered an email/account. Advanced features require a registered account.
- Connect via Bluetooth: Add the battery to the app via Bluetooth following the normal instructions.
- Charge Fully: Charge the battery completely. Verify the charge status in the app.
- Access Advanced Settings: From the battery's home info page in the app, tap the battery name at the top center 5 times quickly. A pop-up will ask to access advanced controls; confirm.
- Check Discharge Switch: A wrench icon will appear in the top right corner; tap it. In the advanced controls, verify that the 'Discharge Switch' is ON. If it is OFF, switch it ON.
- Function Setting (if switch won't stay on): If the discharge switch does not remain ON, navigate to the 'Data' tab at the top, then access 'Function Setting'. Turn the 'Switch Function' OFF. Return to the 'Control' tab; the discharge switch should now be engaged.
- Verify Voltage: Use a multimeter to confirm the battery is now outputting 40V or more at the terminals.
6.2 App Connectivity Issues
If the app is not connecting or functioning correctly:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the battery is within range.
- Restart the app and your phone.
- If using an Android device and experiencing persistent issues, contact DC HOUSE customer service for potential alternative app versions.
6.3 Battery Capacity Attenuation in Cold Weather
In very low winter temperatures, battery charging and discharging may experience capacity attenuation. For charging, ensure the ambient temperature is above 32°F (0°C) to prevent this.
