4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to properly set up the confined space tripod:

1. Unpack Components: Remove all components from the storage bag and inspect them for any signs of damage.
2. Position the Tripod: Place the tripod base over the confined space opening. Ensure the ground is firm and level.
3. Extend Legs: Unlock the leg adjustment pins and extend each leg to the desired height. The adjustable leg length range is 1.34-2.15 m (4.40-7.05 ft). Ensure all three legs are extended equally to maintain stability.
4. Secure Legs: Re-insert and secure the adjustment pins into the appropriate holes on each leg. Verify that all pins are fully engaged.
5. Attach Chain: Connect the protective chain between the feet of the tripod legs to enhance stability and prevent accidental spreading.
6. Mount Winch: Securely attach the hand winch to the designated mounting point on one of the tripod legs. Ensure all fasteners are tightened.
7. Mount Fall Arrester: Attach the fall arrester to the central anchor point at the top of the tripod.

5. Operating Instructions

Proper operation of the winch, fall arrester, and harness is critical for safety.

5.1 Winch Operation

• Lowering: To lower a person or equipment, slowly turn the winch handle counter-clockwise. Control the descent speed carefully.
• Lifting: To lift a person or equipment, turn the winch handle clockwise. Ensure smooth and steady rotation.
• Braking: The winch features an automatic braking system. Releasing the handle will engage the brake, holding the load in position.
• Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum personal lifting load capacity of 180 kg (397 lbs) or the horizontal towing capacity of 544 kg (1200 lbs).

5.2 Fall Arrester Operation

• Attachment: Connect the fall arrester's hook to the dorsal D-ring of the full-body security harness.
• Function: The fall arrester automatically locks the cable upon a sudden downward acceleration, preventing a fall.
• Retrieval: In case of a fall, the fall arrester will engage. The person can then be retrieved using the winch.

5.3 Harness Usage

• Donning: Step into the leg straps, then pull the harness over your shoulders.
• Adjustments: Adjust all straps (leg, chest, shoulder) to ensure a snug but comfortable fit. There should be no slack.
• Connection: Connect the fall arrester to the dorsal D-ring (on the back) of the harness.
• Inspection: Before entry, ensure all buckles are securely fastened and straps are properly adjusted.
