Introduction
Thank you for choosing the AECOJOY 6' x 4' Metal Storage Shed. This manual provides essential information for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your new storage shed. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly or using the product. Retain this manual for future reference.
Important Safety Information:
- Always follow the assembly instructions carefully.
- Wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves and eye protection, when handling metal components.
- Do not attempt to assemble or use the shed in high winds or severe weather conditions.
- Keep children and pets away from the shed during assembly and while in use.
- Ensure the shed is anchored securely to the ground to prevent tipping or movement.
Setup and Assembly
1. Site Preparation
Select a level surface for the shed installation. A perfectly level foundation is crucial for proper assembly and door alignment. Suitable foundations include a concrete pad, compacted gravel, or a raised wooden deck. Ensure adequate drainage around the site.

2. Tools Required
- Two Phillips screwdrivers (magnetic bit recommended)
- Step ladder
- Drill with 1/16" or 5/64" metal drill bits (for pilot holes if needed)
- Ratchet wrench with 11/32" bit
- Measuring tape
- Level
- Magnetic tray for holding screws and small parts
- Safety gloves and eye protection
3. Parts Identification and Preparation
Unpack all boxes and verify that all components listed in the parts diagram (refer to the included detailed manual) are present and undamaged. Many metal pieces are covered with a protective plastic film; remove this film carefully before assembly. It is recommended to attach plastic washers to all screws prior to starting assembly to save time.
4. Assembly Steps Overview
- Base Frame Assembly: Lay out the base rails on your prepared level surface. Ensure the frame is square by measuring the diagonals. Anchor the base frame to the foundation using appropriate anchors (not included).
- Wall Panel Installation: Attach the wall panels to the base frame, following the numerical sequence in the detailed manual. Keep fasteners slightly loose until all panels are in place and aligned.
- Roof Structure Assembly: Assemble the roof supports and attach them to the top of the wall panels. Ensure the roof frame is square before securing.
- Roof Panel Installation: Install the roof panels, ensuring proper overlap for water resistance. The sloping roof design is intended to prevent rainwater accumulation.
- Door Installation: Attach the double hinged doors. Proper alignment is critical for smooth operation. Adjust hinges as necessary.
- Final Fastening: Once all components are aligned, tighten all screws and fasteners securely.

Operating Instructions
1. Access and Security
The shed features double hinged doors for easy access. The doors are designed to be lockable, providing security for your stored items. Ensure the doors are fully closed and latched when not in use to protect contents from weather and unauthorized access.
2. Storage Capacity
With a spacious 24 square feet footprint, this shed offers ample room for various outdoor storage needs. It can accommodate items such as lawnmowers, bicycles, snowmobiles, garden tools, and other equipment. Organize items efficiently to maximize space.
3. Ventilation
The shed is equipped with vents near the roofline to promote air circulation and reduce condensation inside. Ensure these vents remain unobstructed for optimal performance.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regularly clean the exterior of the shed with mild soap and water to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the galvanized coating.
2. Corrosion Protection
The shed's galvanized coating provides resistance to rust, oxidation, and moisture. Inspect the shed periodically for any scratches or damage to the coating. If minor scratches occur, a touch-up paint matching the shed's color can be applied to prevent rust. The manufacturer does not provide touch-up paint, but it can be sourced from hardware stores.
3. Structural Integrity
Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. High winds or heavy use can cause fasteners to loosen over time. Ensure the shed remains securely anchored to its foundation.
4. Weather Sealing
To enhance water resistance, especially in areas prone to heavy rain or wind-driven moisture, consider applying an exterior silicone sealant around the base of the shed where it meets the foundation, and along any gaps between panels or around the door frame. This can help prevent water ingress.
Troubleshooting
1. Assembly Difficulties
- Misaligned Holes: If holes do not align, re-check that the base frame is perfectly square and level. Loosen adjacent fasteners, adjust the panel position, and then retighten. A drill with a small metal bit can be used to slightly enlarge or create new pilot holes if necessary, but this should be a last resort.
- Bent or Dented Parts: Minor bends or dents can often be gently straightened by hand. If a part is significantly damaged, contact customer support for a replacement.
2. Door Operation Issues
- Doors Binding or Not Closing Properly: This is often due to an unlevel foundation or improper alignment during assembly. Verify the base frame is level and square. Check that the door hinges are securely fastened and not bent. Minor adjustments to the hinge screws or gently bending the door frame can sometimes resolve binding.
- Door Handle Issues: Ensure the door handle is installed correctly according to the detailed assembly instructions. If the handle is loose or not engaging the latch, check for proper screw tightness and component placement.
3. Water Leakage
- Water at Base: Ensure the shed is installed on a level surface with good drainage. Apply exterior silicone sealant around the entire base where the shed meets the foundation.
- Water from Panels/Roof: Check that all roof and wall panels are correctly overlapped and all fasteners are tight. Apply silicone sealant to any visible gaps or seams if leakage persists.
4. Wind Stability Concerns
The shed is designed to withstand wind conditions up to approximately 54 Mph. Proper anchoring to a solid foundation is critical for wind resistance. Ensure the base frame is securely fastened to the ground using appropriate anchors for your specific foundation type. Regularly inspect anchors for integrity, especially after severe weather.
