6. Operating Instructions
Once connected, the charger will automatically detect the battery voltage and display it. Follow these steps to begin charging:
- Mode Selection: Press the "MODE" button (usually a circular button on the display) to cycle through the available charging modes:
- CAR Mode: For conventional 12V lead-acid batteries (dry battery, water battery, lead-acid, maintenance-free battery).
- AGM/LiFePO4 Mode: For AGM/EFB batteries and LiFePO4 batteries. This mode is optimized for these battery types, offering 3-5 times the lifespan of a regular battery.
- MOTO Mode: For small capacity 12V lead-acid batteries typically found in motorcycles.
- REPAIR Mode: For activating or repairing deeply discharged or sulfated batteries. This mode uses pulse repair technology to address battery feeding inability or high internal resistance.

Figure 6.1: The charger offers multiple modes for different battery types and conditions.
- Charging Process: Once a mode is selected, the charger will automatically begin the charging process. The display will show the current voltage, current, and the "CHARGING" indicator will be lit.
- Charging Completion: When the battery is fully charged, the display will show "FULL" and the charger will automatically switch to trickle charge or maintenance mode to prevent overcharging. The "FULL" indicator will be lit.
- Disconnecting:
- First, unplug the charger from the AC power outlet.
- Then, disconnect the black (-) clamp from the negative battery terminal.
- Finally, disconnect the red (+) clamp from the positive battery terminal.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EAFC Smart Battery Charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charger display does not light up. | No AC power; loose connection; charger malfunction. | Check AC outlet and power cord connection. Ensure outlet is live. |
| "FULL" indicator is lit immediately after connecting. | Battery is already fully charged; battery voltage is too high for charging. | No action needed if battery is full. If not, check battery voltage. |
| "CHARGING" indicator does not light up. | Incorrect battery connection (reverse polarity); battery voltage too low; battery severely damaged. | Check battery clamp connections. Ensure battery voltage is above 7.0V. If battery is severely damaged, it may not accept a charge. Try REPAIR mode if applicable. |
| Charger gets hot and shuts down. | Overheat protection activated; poor ventilation. | Allow charger to cool down. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger. Do not cover it. |
| Display shows an error code (if applicable). | Specific error condition (e.g., short circuit, open circuit). | Refer to the charger's specific error code meanings (if provided on device or in a more detailed manual). Disconnect and reconnect. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact EAFC customer support.
