1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Inkerma ACE-100 Laser Distance Meter. This device is designed for precise and efficient distance measurements, offering multiple functions for various applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and optimal operation.

1.1 Safety Information

WARNING: This product uses a Class II laser with a power output of less than 1mW. Do not stare directly into the laser beam or direct it at others. Avoid exposing eyes to direct or reflected laser light. Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

Always ensure the device is used in a safe manner and stored properly when not in use.

3. Product Overview

The Inkerma ACE-100 features a robust design with a clear LCD screen and intuitive button layout for easy operation.

3.1 Device Components

  • Power On / Measurement Button: Activates the device and initiates measurements.
  • Mode Selection (FUNC): Cycles through various measurement modes.
  • Switch Measurement Mode: Changes specific parameters within a mode.
  • Plus Sign / Switch Reference: Adds measurements or changes the measurement baseline.
  • Minus Sign / Switch Unit (m/ft/in/"'): Subtracts measurements or cycles through units.
  • 100 Sets Data Storage: Accesses stored measurements.
  • Mute Function: Toggles the beep sound.
  • LCD Screen: Displays measurements, modes, and settings with backlighting.
  • Digital Angle Sensor: Provides real-time angle readings.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Inkerma ACE-100 uses 2 AA 1.5V batteries. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Gently slide the cover open.
  3. Insert the 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Power On/Off

  • To power on: Press the Power On / Measurement button.
  • To power off: Press and hold the Power On / Measurement button for a few seconds. The device also features an auto-off function to conserve battery life.

5. Operating Modes

The Inkerma ACE-100 offers various measurement modes. Press the FUNC button to cycle through the available modes.

5.1 Basic Measurement (Single/Continuous)

  • Single Measurement: Press the Power On / Measurement button once to emit the laser, then press again to take a single distance reading.
  • Continuous Measurement (Min/Max Tracking): In this mode, the device continuously measures distance. The display will show the current, minimum, and maximum distances. Press the Power On / Measurement button to start and stop continuous measurement.

5.2 Unit Switching

To switch between measurement units (Meters, Inches, Feet, Feet+Inches), press the Minus Sign / Switch Unit button repeatedly until the desired unit is displayed.

5.3 Measurement Reference

The device allows you to set the measurement baseline from the front or rear of the device. This is crucial for accurate measurements depending on where the device is placed. Press the Plus Sign / Switch Reference button to toggle between front and rear reference points.

5.4 Area Measurement

To calculate the area of a surface:

  1. Select the Area Measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Measure the first side (length) by pressing the Power On / Measurement button.
  3. Measure the second side (width) by pressing the Power On / Measurement button.
  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

5.5 Volume Measurement

To calculate the volume of a space:

  1. Select the Volume Measurement mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Measure the length by pressing the Power On / Measurement button.
  3. Measure the width by pressing the Power On / Measurement button.
  4. Measure the height by pressing the Power On / Measurement button.
  5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

5.6 Pythagorean Measurement

The device supports various Pythagorean methods for indirect measurements, useful for inaccessible points.

  1. Select the desired Pythagorean mode using the FUNC button.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
  3. The device will calculate the unknown side.

5.7 Angle Sensor

The integrated angle sensor provides real-time angle readings, useful for leveling or determining inclinations.

5.8 Data Storage and Recall

The device can store up to 100 data groups. This allows you to save and review previous measurements.

  • To save a measurement: Measurements are typically saved automatically.
  • To recall data: Press the 100 Sets Data Storage button to browse through stored records.
  • To delete data: Refer to the on-screen prompts when viewing stored data for deletion options.

5.9 Mute Function

The mute feature disables the beep sound during measurements, making it suitable for use in quiet environments. Press the Mute Function button to toggle the sound on or off.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Care and Cleaning

  • Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the laser lens clean to ensure accurate measurements. Use a soft cloth or cotton swab.
  • Store the device in its protective bag when not in use to prevent damage.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Inkerma ACE-100, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Device does not power on: Check if batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate measurements: Ensure the laser lens is clean. Verify the correct measurement reference point is selected. Ensure the target surface is suitable for laser reflection.
  • Display is dim or unreadable: Check battery level. The LCD has backlighting for low-light conditions.
  • No sound: Check if the mute function is activated.
