3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up and install your AOTIQUAL detector:

3.1 Mounting Location

Choose a suitable location for the detector. It is designed for indoor use in offices, public spaces, or other areas where smoke and PM2.5 monitoring is desired. Consider the following guidelines:

  • Ceiling Installation: If installing on a ceiling, the best location is in the center of the room. If not in the center, install at least 20 inches (50 cm) away from corners.
  • Wall Installation: If mounted on a wall, install 4-12 inches (10-30 cm) below the ceiling.
  • Angled Ceilings: When installing on an angled ceiling, place the detector at least 4 inches (10 cm) vertically and within 3 feet (90 cm) horizontally from the highest point.
  • Avoid "Dead Air" Space: Do not install in areas where air circulation is poor, such as directly in corners or near obstructions.

4.1 Remote Control Functions

  • Power On/Off: Turns the detector system on or off.
  • LED Power: Toggles the LED flashing light on or off.
  • Adjust Voice Volume (+/-): Increases or decreases the volume of voice prompts.
  • Increase/Decrease Sensitivity (+/-): Adjusts the detection sensitivity across ten levels (Level 1 to 100 µg/m³ to Level 10 to 1000 µg/m³).
  • Fan On/Off: Controls the internal fan. Turning the fan on can accelerate air intake for faster detection in large environments.
  • Choose Music: Selects different voice prompt options.
  • Manual Reset (M): Manually resets the alarm.
  • Auto Reset (A): Sets the detector to automatically reset after an alarm.

4.2 Voice Reminders and Alarms

When cigarette smoke or PM2.5 particles are detected above the set sensitivity level, the device will issue a voice reminder such as: "According to the smoking control regulations, smoking is not allowed in public place. For our health, no smoking, please." The alarm will continue as long as the detected particles remain above the threshold.

  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the device within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage. Avoid direct exposure to water or excessive moisture.
  • Power Connection: Periodically check the power cable and adapter for any signs of damage. Replace if necessary.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your AOTIQUAL detector, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power/Device Not Turning On:
    • Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the detector and the power adapter.
    • Verify that the power adapter is firmly plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Check if the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
  • "Sensor Error" Message:
    • This indicates a potential issue with the internal sensor. Try unplugging the device for a few minutes and then plugging it back in to perform a system reset.
    • Ensure the air intake is not obstructed.
    • If the error persists, contact customer support.
  • No Voice Reminders/Low Volume:
    • Use the remote control's "Volume +" button to increase the audio output.
    • Ensure the detector's speaker is not covered or obstructed.
  • Detector Not Responding to Remote Control:
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the detector.
    • Check the battery in the remote control and replace if necessary.
  • False Alarms:
    • Adjust the sensitivity setting using the remote control to a lower level if the environment is prone to non-smoke related airborne particles.
    • Ensure the detector is not placed near sources of steam, strong odors, or excessive dust.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact AOTIQUAL customer support for further assistance.
