2. Safety Information

• Battery Type: Only use alkaline dry batteries (LR6/LR06). Carbon batteries can cause unstable internal voltage and lead to malfunctions. Batteries are not included.
• Environmental Conditions: Avoid installing the smart lock in locations continuously exposed to strong sunlight or high moisture. High temperatures or rainwater erosion can damage internal components.

5. Setup and Installation

The GEKRONE Smart Fingerprint Lock A290 is designed for easy installation, typically completed within 30 minutes using basic tools like an electric drill and a Phillips screwdriver. No wiring is required.

5.1. Pre-Installation Checks

• Door Thickness: Compatible with doors 1-3/8 inches to 2-1/8 inches (35mm-54mm) thick.
• Adjustable Latch: The lock buckle is adjustable from 2-3/8 inches (60mm) to 2-1/8 inches (70mm).
• Handle Orientation: The handles are reversible to support both left and right door opening methods.

5.2. Installation Steps

Follow these steps for proper installation. Refer to the video for visual guidance.

1. Step 1: Install the Lock Core. Insert the lock core (latch) into the door edge. Secure it with the two pointed screws provided.
2. Step 2: Adjust Handle Orientation. Pick up the front of the smart lock. If it is for a right-hand door, align the triangle with 'R'. If it is for a left-hand door, align the triangle with 'L'. This ensures the handle operates correctly.
3. Step 3: Insert Square Shaft. Place the 65mm long square shaft into the middle slot of the front panel. Ensure it clicks firmly into place.
4. Step 4: Pass Power Cord and Mount Front Panel. Pass the power cord through the wooden door (specifically, through the top of the lock cylinder opening). Then, align and clip the front of the lock to the wooden door.
5. Step 5: Install Upper Back Plate. Secure the upper back plate to the door using the two screws provided.
6. Step 6: Connect Power. Remove the battery cover from the back panel. Insert the power connector from the front panel into the designated card slot on the back panel.
7. Step 7: Secure Back Panel. Screw the short screw into the lower screw hole and the long screw into the upper screw hole to attach the back panel.
8. Step 8: Insert Batteries and Close Cover. Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment. Close the battery cover. The installation is now complete.

5.3. Adjusting Handle Direction

The lock handles can be adjusted to suit left or right-handed door openings.

6.1. Fingerprint Unlocking

6.2. Passcode Unlocking

Enter your programmed passcode on the touchscreen keypad. The lock supports anti-peeping functionality, allowing you to enter random digits before or after your actual code to prevent others from guessing it.

You can also set temporary passwords for guests or service providers, which can be time-limited or one-time use.

6.3. IC Card Unlocking

Simply tap an authorized IC card on the designated sensing area of the lock to unlock the door.

6.6. Automatic Locking and Normally Open Mode

7.1. Battery Replacement

The lock requires 4 AA alkaline batteries (LR6/LR06) and can operate for approximately 10-12 months (around 8000 unlocks) before needing replacement. The lock will provide a low battery reminder.

7.2. Emergency Power Supply

In case of complete battery depletion, the lock is equipped with a USB port for emergency power supply. Connect a power bank to this port to temporarily power the lock and gain access. Note that this port is for power supply only and does not recharge the internal batteries.
