2.3. Initial Configuration (Web Management Page)
For initial setup, place the outdoor WiFi extender in the same room as your WiFi router.
- Connect your wireless device (smartphone, laptop) to the WiFi network of the extender. The default SSIDs are BrosTrend_EXT (for 2.4 GHz) or BrosTrend_5GEXT (for 5 GHz).
- The web management page should pop up automatically. If not, open a web browser and manually enter the login address: http://brostrendwifi.com (or the IP address found in the Quick Installation Guide).
- Enter the default login username and password, which is admin for both. Click Login.
- Choose Extender Mode to boost your WiFi range, then click Next.
- The extender will scan for available WiFi networks. Select the existing networks you want to extend and enter the correct password for your main WiFi.
- Customize the extended WiFi names and passwords. By default, they use the same password as your main WiFi.
- Set a new login password for the extender and save it for future access. Then click Extend.
- Wait approximately 1 minute for the configuration to complete.

3. Operating Modes
The BrosTrend AC1200 Outdoor WiFi Extender supports two main operating modes:
3.1. WiFi Range Extender Mode
In this mode, the extender wirelessly connects to your existing WiFi router and re-broadcasts the signal, extending its coverage. This is ideal for eliminating WiFi dead zones in outdoor areas like gardens, yards, and pools.
3.2. Wireless Access Point Mode
In Access Point (AP) mode, the extender connects to your existing router via an Ethernet cable and creates a new WiFi network. This mode is recommended for optimal signal quality and coverage, especially when a wired connection to the main router is feasible.

4. Maintenance and Care
4.1. Weather Resistance
The BrosTrend AC1200 Extender is designed for outdoor use with an IP65-rated waterproof and dustproof housing. It also includes 6kV lightning protection and 8kV ESD protection, ensuring durability in various environmental conditions. It can withstand temperatures from -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C).
4.2. Cable Recommendations
For outdoor installations, it is recommended to use qualified Cat5e or higher outdoor PoE-compatible Ethernet cables. These cables should be waterproof, shielded, UV-resistant, and capable of withstanding both high and low temperatures to ensure long-term performance and protection.
4.3. Grounding
To protect the extender from overvoltage and overcurrent caused by indirect lightning strikes and electrostatic discharge (ESD), it is recommended to connect the GND terminal of the extender to a grounding terminal connected to the earth or building.
5. Troubleshooting and Optimal Placement
5.1. Signal Indicator Meanings
The built-in signal light on the extender helps determine optimal placement:
- Solid Green: Strong signal, ideal location. The extender is in a proper position and receiving a strong signal from your router.
- Solid Orange: Weak signal. The extender is receiving a weak signal from your router. Please relocate it closer to your router for better performance.
- Blinking Orange Slowly: No signal. The extender is powered on, but setup is not complete or it fails to receive any signal from your router. Please relocate it closer to your router or set it up again.

Image: An illustration detailing the meaning of the signal indicator lights on the BrosTrend AC1200 Extender: Solid Green indicates a strong signal and ideal location, Solid Orange indicates a weak signal requiring relocation closer to the router, and Blinking Orange indicates no signal, suggesting relocation or re-setup.
5.2. Optimal Placement Tips
To achieve the best WiFi coverage:
- Mount the extender at least 6.6 feet (2 meters) above the ground.
- Place the extender within your router's WiFi coverage area.
- Ideally, position the extender halfway between your router and the WiFi dead zone.
- Avoid placing the extender too close to your router, as this may result in limited WiFi coverage in outdoor areas.
- Avoid placing the extender too far away from your router, as this may result in weak or no WiFi signal.

Image: A diagram showing optimal placement for the BrosTrend AC1200 Outdoor WiFi Extender. It illustrates that the extender should be mounted at least 6.6 feet above ground, within the router's WiFi range, and ideally halfway between the router and the WiFi dead zone. Incorrect placements (too close or too far from the router) are also shown with their resulting coverage issues.
