Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
- Never operate the chipper without all guards and safety devices in place and functioning correctly.
- Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from the feed chute and discharge opening.
- Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders, children, and pets.
- Do not feed material larger than the specified maximum diameter (6 inches).
- Always shut off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance, clearing jams, or making adjustments.
- The machine is equipped with an emergency stop button and stop bar. Familiarize yourself with their location and function for quick shutdown in emergencies.
- When the feeding and discharge chute is open, a limit switch will shut down the gasoline engine to ensure safety during maintenance.
- Operate the chipper on a level, stable surface.
- Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Avoid spilling fuel.

- Fluid Levels: Before starting, check engine oil and fuel levels. Refer to the engine manual for specific oil type and capacity. Use fresh, clean gasoline.
Operating Instructions
Pre-Operation Checklist:
- Ensure all safety guards are in place and secure.
- Check engine oil and fuel levels.
- Inspect blades for sharpness and damage.
- Clear the area around the chipper of any obstructions.
- Wear all required PPE.
- Verify the emergency stop button is not engaged.
Starting the Engine:
- Ensure the chipper is on a stable, level surface.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
- Set the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (cold engine).
- Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
- Use the electric start key or pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position as the engine warms up.
Chipping Operation:
- Position the discharge chute to direct chipped material away from people, buildings, and other obstacles. The 360° rotary discharge chute allows for precise direction.

Figure 9: Adjustable 360° rotary discharge chute.
- Feed branches and brush into the feed chute one at a time. Do not force material into the chipper. Allow the machine to pull the material through.
- Do not exceed the maximum chipping diameter of 6 inches.

Figure 10: Maximum chipping diameter of 6 inches.
- For optimal performance, feed material with leaves and small branches first, followed by larger, straighter pieces.
- If the chipper bogs down, reduce the feeding rate. If it stalls, refer to the troubleshooting section.
Stopping the Engine:
- Allow the engine to idle for a few minutes to cool down.
- Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.
- In an emergency, press the emergency stop button or engage the stop bar.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of your chipper. Always ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected before performing any maintenance.
- Blade Inspection and Replacement: Regularly inspect the A8 double-edge blades for sharpness, chips, or damage. Replace or sharpen blades as needed. The side opening hinge design allows for easy access to the cutting chamber for maintenance.

Figure 12: Side opening hinge design for maintenance access.

Figure 13: A8 blades and Kevlar belts, designed for durability.
- Belt Inspection: Check the Kevlar material belts for wear, cracks, or proper tension. Replace if necessary.
- Engine Maintenance: Follow the engine manufacturer's recommendations for oil changes, air filter cleaning/replacement, and spark plug inspection.
- Lubrication: Lubricate all moving parts and pivot points as specified in the engine manual.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the chipper to remove debris, especially from the feed chute, discharge chute, and around the engine.
- Storage: Store the chipper in a dry, protected area. If storing for an extended period, prepare the engine for storage according to the engine manual (e.g., fuel stabilizer, fogging oil).
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel; Choke not set; Engine switch off; Spark plug issue; Emergency stop engaged. | Add fuel; Adjust choke; Turn engine switch ON; Check/replace spark plug; Disengage emergency stop. |
| Chipper bogs down/stalls | Overfeeding; Dull blades; Engine overloaded. | Reduce feeding rate; Sharpen/replace blades; Allow engine to recover. |
| Poor chipping performance | Dull/damaged blades; Incorrect material feeding. | Sharpen/replace blades; Feed material properly. |
| Excessive vibration | Unbalanced blades; Loose components. | Inspect/balance blades; Tighten all fasteners. |
