1. Introduction

The Grandstream HT802 V2 is a 2-port Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) designed to provide a high-quality and manageable IP telephony solution for both residential and office environments. This device allows users to integrate traditional analog phones with Voice over IP (VoIP) services, leveraging advanced VoIP functionality, security protection, and auto-provisioning options.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in your package:

2.2 Physical Connection

Follow these steps to connect your HT802 V2:

  1. Connect to Network: Insert one end of an Ethernet cable into the NET port on the back of the HT802 V2 and the other end into an available LAN port on your router or network switch.
  2. Connect Analog Phones: Connect your analog telephone(s) to the PHONE1 and/or PHONE2 FXS ports on the back of the HT802 V2 using standard RJ11 phone cables.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the power port on the back of the HT802 V2, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  4. Power On: The device will automatically power on. Observe the LED indicators on the top panel. The POWER LED should be solid blue, and the NET LED should indicate network activity.

2.3 Initial Configuration

After physical connection, the device will attempt to obtain an IP address via DHCP. To access the web configuration interface:

  1. Find IP Address: Connect an analog phone to the PHONE1 port. Dial *** (three asterisks) to access the IVR menu. Press 02 to hear the device's IP address.
  2. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network. Enter the IP address obtained in step 1 into the browser's address bar.
  3. Login: The default username is "admin" and the default password is "admin". It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately for security.
  4. Configure SIP Account: Navigate to the FXS Port 1/2 settings to configure your SIP account details provided by your VoIP service provider. This typically includes SIP Server, SIP User ID, Authenticate ID, and Authenticate Password.

3.1 Making and Receiving Calls

3.2 3-Way Conferencing

To initiate a 3-way conference call:

  1. Establish a call with the first party.
  2. Press the Flash button (or R button) on your analog phone. You will hear a new dial tone.
  3. Dial the second party's number.
  4. Once the second party answers, press the Flash button (or R button) again to join all three parties into a conference call.

3.3 Fax-over-IP (T.38)

The HT802 V2 supports T.38 Fax for reliable Fax-over-IP transmission. Ensure your VoIP service provider also supports T.38 and that the feature is enabled in the device's web configuration under the FXS Port settings.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Firmware Updates

Grandstream regularly releases firmware updates to improve performance, add features, and address security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to periodically check the Grandstream website for the latest firmware for your HT802 V2 and follow their instructions for updating.

4.2 Factory Reset

A factory reset will restore the device to its default settings, erasing all custom configurations. This can be useful for troubleshooting or preparing the device for redeployment.
