4. Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your Mobula7 drone for its first flight.

4.1 Battery Connection

  1. Ensure the drone's power switch (if present) is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect a fully charged 1S LiPo battery (450mAh, 550mAh, or 650mAh recommended) to the drone's battery connector. Ensure correct polarity.
  3. Secure the battery in the designated battery tray or strap.

4.2 ExpressLRS Receiver Binding

The Mobula7 features a built-in SPI ExpressLRS 2.4GHz receiver. To bind it with your ExpressLRS compatible radio transmitter:

  1. Power on the Mobula7 drone by connecting the battery. The receiver's LED should start flashing slowly.
  2. Power cycle the drone three times rapidly (connect battery, disconnect, connect, disconnect, connect). After the third connection, the receiver LED should flash rapidly, indicating it is in binding mode.
  3. On your ExpressLRS compatible radio transmitter, navigate to the ExpressLRS LUA script or menu and select the 'BIND' option.
  4. Once bound, the receiver LED on the drone will turn solid, indicating a successful connection.
  5. If binding fails, ensure your transmitter's ExpressLRS firmware version is compatible with the drone's receiver (v3.0 or newer recommended).

4.3 Betaflight Configuration (Advanced Users)

The drone comes pre-configured with Betaflight firmware CRAZYBEEF4SX1280 4.5.1. For advanced settings or troubleshooting, you can connect to Betaflight Configurator:

6.1 Propeller Replacement

Damaged propellers can significantly affect flight performance and safety. Replace them immediately if bent, cracked, or chipped.

  1. Use the provided propeller disassembly tool to carefully remove the old propeller from the motor shaft.
  2. Ensure the new propeller is oriented correctly (clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation as indicated by markings or motor direction).
  3. Gently push the new propeller onto the motor shaft until it sits flush. Do not force it.

6.2 Cleaning

After flights, especially in dusty or grassy environments, clean your drone:
