5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Charging the Batteries

Before first use, fully charge both 48V 7.5 Ah batteries. Connect the charger to a power outlet and then connect the batteries to the charger. The charging indicator lights will show the charging status. A full charge provides power for up to 900 m² of mowing.

5.2 Starting the Lawnmower

  1. Ensure batteries are fully charged and correctly installed.
  2. Insert the safety key into its slot.
  3. Press and hold the safety button on the handle.
  4. Pull the bail lever towards the handle to engage the motor. Release the safety button once the motor starts.
  5. The intuitive keypad on the handle allows for quick startup and control.

5.3 Adjusting Cutting Height

The lawnmower features a robust cutting height adjustment mechanism. Locate the height adjustment lever, typically near one of the wheels or centrally on the deck. Move the lever to select one of the available cutting height positions. Always adjust the cutting height before starting the motor.

5.4 Selecting Speed

The Combi 50 V AE Kit offers 6 speed settings. Use the controls on the intuitive keypad to select the desired speed for your mowing conditions. Lower speeds are suitable for dense or tall grass, while higher speeds are efficient for lighter cutting.

5.5 Mowing Techniques (4-in-1 System)

Your lawnmower supports a versatile 4-in-1 cutting system:

  • Collection: For a tidy finish, attach the 70 L grass collection bag. Ideal for autumn mowing.
  • Mulching: Insert the mulching plug to finely chop grass clippings and return them to the lawn as natural fertilizer. Best for early summer.
  • Rear Discharge: Remove the grass bag and mulching plug for rear discharge of clippings.
  • Side Discharge: Attach the side discharge deflector for expelling clippings to the side, useful for taller grass in spring.

Choose the appropriate method based on grass conditions and desired lawn finish.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your STIGA lawnmower. Always disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, clean the underside of the cutting deck to remove grass clippings and debris.
  • Wipe down the exterior of the lawnmower with a damp cloth. Do not use high-pressure washers or allow water to enter electrical components.
  • Clean the grass collection bag regularly to maintain airflow.

6.2 Blade Care

Periodically inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to poor cutting performance and increased battery drain. If necessary, have the blade sharpened or replaced by a qualified service technician. Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, especially for extended periods:

  • Remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dry place, partially charged (around 50%).
  • Clean the lawnmower thoroughly.
  • Fold the handle forward for compact storage. The aluminum handle allows for easy lifting and storage.
  • Store the lawnmower in a dry, protected area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
