Product Features

The HJC i80 Solid Modular Motorcycle Helmet incorporates advanced features for comfort, protection, and versatility.

Setup

Helmet Fitting

A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety. To determine the correct size, measure the circumference of your head approximately one inch above your eyebrows. Refer to the HJC size chart for guidance. The helmet should fit snugly around your head and cheeks without causing pressure points. The chin strap should be securely fastened under your chin, allowing only enough room for two fingers to fit comfortably.

Visor Installation and Removal

The HJ-44 visor can be removed and installed without tools for cleaning or replacement. Consult the quick-release mechanism instructions provided with your helmet for detailed steps. Ensure the visor is securely latched before riding.

Pinlock® Anti-Fog Insert Installation (Optional)

If using a Pinlock® anti-fog insert (sold separately), carefully align the insert with the pins on the HJ-44 visor. Press firmly to create a seal. Ensure the silicone bead on the Pinlock® insert makes full contact with the visor for optimal anti-fog performance.

Operating Instructions

Operating the Modular Chin Bar

To raise the modular chin bar, locate the release button or lever, typically found on the front center of the chin bar. Press the button and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the open position. To close, press the release button again and pull the chin bar down firmly until it latches securely. Always ensure the chin bar is fully locked in the down position before riding.

Using the Integrated Sun Shield

The integrated HJ-V12 sun shield can be deployed or retracted using the slider mechanism located on the side of the helmet. Slide it down to deploy the sun shield for sun protection and up to retract it when not needed or in low light conditions.

Adjusting Ventilation

The HJC i80 features adjustable top and lower vents. Locate the sliders or switches on the top and front of the helmet. Adjust these to control airflow and manage internal temperature and humidity. Open the vents for increased airflow and close them to reduce airflow, for example, in colder weather.

Maintenance

Exterior Cleaning

Clean the helmet exterior with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or petroleum-based products, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth.

Interior Pad Removal and Cleaning

The crown and cheek pads are removable and washable for hygiene. Carefully detach the pads from their fasteners inside the helmet. Hand wash them with mild soap and cool water, then air dry completely before re-installing. Ensure all pads are dry and correctly re-installed before using the helmet.

Visor Care

Clean the HJ-44 visor and HJ-V12 sun shield with a soft cloth and warm water. For stubborn dirt, use a helmet-specific visor cleaner. Avoid wiping a dry visor, as this can cause scratches. Always ensure the visor is clean and free of obstructions for clear vision.

Troubleshooting

Loose Visor

If the visor feels loose or does not operate smoothly, check the visor mechanism for proper alignment and ensure all screws are tightened. Refer to the helmet's quick-release mechanism instructions for adjustments. Do not overtighten screws.

Excessive Noise

Excessive wind noise can sometimes be caused by an improper fit or an unsealed visor. Ensure the helmet fits snugly and the visor is fully closed and sealed. Check for any gaps around the visor or chin bar. If the issue persists, consult with an authorized HJC dealer.

Fogging Visor

If the visor fogs up, ensure the vents are open to promote airflow. If using a Pinlock® insert, verify it is correctly installed and sealed. If fogging continues, consider using an anti-fog spray or replacing the Pinlock® insert if it is old or damaged.
