3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Charging Options

The bug zapper offers two methods for charging its internal Lithium Ion battery:

  • Solar Charging: Connect the 8W solar panel to the zapper unit. Place the solar panel in a location that receives direct sunlight for optimal charging. The 3-meter cable allows for flexible placement.
  • USB-C Charging: For faster charging or when solar power is unavailable, use the provided USB-C cable to connect the zapper to a compatible USB power source.

3.2 Mounting Options

The bug zapper can be installed in various ways to suit your environment:

  • Hanging: Use the provided chain to hang the unit from a hook or suitable support. Ensure the hanging point is stable and can support the weight of the zapper.
  • Ground Placement: Attach the support rods to the bottom of the unit to insert it into the ground. This is ideal for gardens, patios, or camping areas. The solar panel can be adjusted using its bracket to face the sun.

4. Operation

The PALONE Solar Bug Zapper features two distinct operating modes:

4.1 Mode Selection

Press the power button on the unit to cycle through the modes:

  • First Press (Solar Mode): In this mode, the zapper will charge during daylight hours via the solar panel. When light levels drop (e.g., at dusk), the electric shock function will automatically activate. If the solar panel is not connected, this mode will keep the zapper continuously on.
  • Second Press (Always-On Mode): The bug zapper will operate continuously, 24 hours a day, regardless of light conditions or solar charging status.
  • Third Press: Turns the unit off.

4.2 Effective Insect Control

The zapper utilizes 365nm~395nm UV light waves to attract insects, which are then eliminated by a 4000V high-voltage electric grid. This physical method is effective and does not use chemicals.
