4.3 Assembly Steps:

  1. Place the filter tank on the base support on a firm, level surface near your pool.
  2. Carefully add the specified amount of filter sand or filter balls into the tank.
  3. Attach the 6-way valve to the top of the filter tank, ensuring a secure and watertight seal with the flange clamp and O-ring.
  4. Connect the pump to the filter tank using the provided hose and fittings. Ensure all connections are tight, using pipe tape where necessary to prevent leaks.
  5. Connect the pump's inlet and outlet ports to your pool's skimmer and return lines, respectively. Additional hoses may be required (not included).
  6. Ensure the pre-filter basket is correctly seated in the pump's strainer housing.
  7. Fill the pool with water to the appropriate level before starting the pump.

5. Operating Instructions

Understanding the 6-way valve and timer functions is key to effective pool filtration.

5.1 6-Way Valve Functions

The multi-port valve allows you to perform various operations for pool maintenance. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

Diagram illustrating the six positions of the multi-port valve: Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Closed, Recirculate.

Figure 5.1: 6-Way Valve positions and their functions.

  • 1. FILTER: Normal filtering mode. Water passes through the sand bed, cleaning the pool.
  • 2. BACKWASH: Reverses water flow through the filter to clean the sand bed. Water is discharged to waste.
  • 3. RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush out any remaining debris from the filter before returning to FILTER mode. Water is discharged to waste.
  • 4. WASTE: Bypasses the filter and sends water directly to waste. Useful for vacuuming heavy debris or lowering pool water level.
  • 5. CLOSED: Stops all water flow to the filter and pump. Never use this setting while the pump is running.
  • 6. RECIRCULATE: Bypasses the filter and circulates water directly back to the pool. Useful for mixing chemicals without filtering.

5.2 Timer Operation

The integrated timer allows for automated daily filtration cycles.

Figure 5.2: Pump control panel with timer settings.

  1. Step 1: Set Running Hours. Use the timer button to select the desired daily operating duration.
  2. Step 2: Turn on the Pump. Activate the pump. The time you activate the timer becomes the daily start time for subsequent cycles.
  3. 24-hour Mode: An option for constant filtration if desired.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sand filter pump.

6.1 Pre-Filter Basket Cleaning

The integrated pre-filter captures coarse debris like hair, leaves, and gravel, preventing them from reaching the pump impeller and main filter. It features a see-through lid for easy inspection and a detachable basket for cleaning.

Figure 6.1: Detailed view of the integrated pre-filter and strainer basket.

  • Regularly check the pre-filter basket through the clear lid.
  • When debris is visible, turn off the pump and disconnect power.
  • Carefully remove the lid and lift out the basket.
  • Empty and rinse the basket thoroughly.
  • Replace the basket and secure the lid, ensuring a proper seal.

6.2 Backwashing and Rinsing

Backwashing cleans the sand filter bed, and rinsing settles the sand before returning to normal filtration.

  1. Turn off the pump.
  2. Set the 6-way valve to the BACKWASH position.
  3. Turn on the pump and run until the water in the sight glass (if present) runs clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
  4. Turn off the pump.
  5. Set the 6-way valve to the RINSE position.
  6. Turn on the pump and run for 30-60 seconds.
  7. Turn off the pump.
  8. Set the 6-way valve back to the FILTER position.
  9. Turn on the pump to resume normal filtration.
