3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the built-in battery. Connect the provided USB cable to the Micro USB 2.0 port on the device and the other end to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.

• A charging indicator light will typically illuminate during charging and turn off or change color when fully charged.
• Charging time may vary.

3.2 Inserting a Micro SD Card (Optional)

To save photos and videos, a Micro SD card (up to 128GB, not included) is required. Locate the Micro SD card slot, usually protected by a rubber cover. Insert the card with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.

• Ensure the device is powered off before inserting or removing the Micro SD card.
• Format the Micro SD card through the device's menu settings for optimal performance.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on, press and hold the Power button (usually located on top) until the screen illuminates.
• To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the screen turns off.

4.2 Focusing

For clear images, manual focusing is essential. Rotate the lens rings on the objective lenses until the image on the screen appears sharp. This is particularly important when viewing objects at different distances.

4.3 Adjusting Infrared (IR) Illumination

The R18 features an 850nm infrared illuminator with 7 adjustable levels. In low light or complete darkness, activate the IR illuminator. Use the designated buttons (often marked with IR or up/down arrows) to cycle through the IR levels to achieve optimal brightness without overexposure.

• Taking a Photo: In photo mode, press the SNAP button (or shutter button) to capture an image.
• Recording a Video: In video recording mode, press the SNAP button to start recording. Press it again to stop recording.
• Playback: In playback mode, use the navigation buttons to browse through your saved photos and videos.

4.5 Digital Zoom

Use the zoom buttons (often marked with '+' and '-') to adjust the digital zoom level up to 5X. Note that higher digital zoom levels may reduce image quality.
