- Floor Type Selection: Refer to your main vacuum manual for specific floor type settings (e.g., hard floor, carpet) as these settings will optimize the performance of the PowerFins head.
- Maneuverability: The PowerFins head is designed for easy maneuverability across various floor types. Guide the vacuum smoothly over surfaces.
- Obstructions: Avoid running the PowerFins head over large objects, cords, or loose items that could jam the brushroll or cause damage.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance of your PowerFins head ensures optimal performance and extends its lifespan. Always ensure the vacuum is powered off and unplugged before performing any maintenance.
4.1. Cleaning the Brushroll
- Access Brushroll: Turn the PowerFins head upside down to expose the brushroll.
- Remove Debris: Use scissors or a brush to carefully cut and remove any hair, string, or debris wrapped around the brushroll. Be cautious not to damage the PowerFins or bristles.
- Wipe Clean: Wipe the exterior of the PowerFins head with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the head in water or use abrasive cleaners.

4.2. Wearable Parts
The PowerFins head contains wearable parts, such as the brushroll and internal components, which are subject to normal wear and tear. Regular inspection and replacement of these parts may be necessary to maintain optimal performance. Wearable parts are typically not covered under standard warranty due to their nature of requiring regular maintenance and/or replacement.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your PowerFins head, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Brushroll Not Spinning:
- Ensure the PowerFins head is securely attached to the vacuum wand.
- Check for any obstructions (hair, debris) wrapped around the brushroll. Clear any blockages as described in the Maintenance section.
- Verify that the vacuum itself is powered on and functioning correctly.
- Reduced Suction:
- While the PowerFins head primarily aids in agitation, ensure the brushroll is clean and spinning freely.
- Check the vacuum's dust cup and filters for blockages or fullness, as this can affect overall suction.
- Unusual Noises:
- Power off the vacuum immediately.
- Inspect the brushroll and the underside of the head for any foreign objects or damage.
- Ensure all components are properly assembled and secured.
If issues persist after following these steps, please refer to your main Shark vacuum manual or contact Shark customer support.
