5. Installation Instructions
This trimless recessed downlight is designed for new construction or remodel applications where a clean, flush finish is desired. No traditional recessed can or housing is required.
- Prepare the Opening: Cut a 2.6-inch diameter hole in the ceiling at the desired location. Ensure there is sufficient clearance above the ceiling for the fixture and junction box.
- Install the Plaster Frame: Insert the trimless plaster frame into the cutout. Secure the frame to the sheetrock using appropriate screws. The frame should be flush with the ceiling surface.
- Plaster and Paint: Apply plaster over the trimless frame, blending it seamlessly with the ceiling. Allow to dry, then sand and paint the ceiling as desired. This creates the "trimless" effect.
- Wiring the Junction Box:
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker.
- Open the junction box cover.
- Remove the appropriate knockout(s) on the junction box.
- Connect the supply wires to the junction box wires: Black to Black (Live), White to White (Neutral), Green/Bare Copper to Green (Ground). Secure connections with wire nuts.
- Close the junction box cover and secure it.
- Connect Fixture to Junction Box: Feed the junction box through the plaster frame opening. Connect the fixture's male connector to the female connector on the junction box. Ensure a secure connection.
- Insert and Secure Fixture: Carefully push the LED downlight fixture into the plaster frame opening. Twist the fixture clockwise to engage the twist locks and secure it firmly into the frame.
