3. Setup & Installation
The FIDECO M.2 NVMe Enclosure features a tool-free, sandwich-style design for easy SSD installation.
- Open the Enclosure: Gently slide or lift the top cover of the enclosure to reveal the internal PCB. The sandwich design allows for easy access.
- Insert the M.2 NVMe SSD: Align your M.2 NVMe SSD with the M-Key or M+B Key slot on the PCB. Carefully insert the SSD into the slot at an angle until it is fully seated.
- Secure the SSD:
- For 2280 SSDs: Use the integrated buckle at the end of the enclosure to fix the SSD securely.
- For shorter SSDs (2230/2242/2260): Use the provided rubber plugs to secure the SSD in place at the appropriate length.
- Apply Thermal Pad: Place the thermal pad onto the SSD chip. Ensure good contact between the thermal pad and the SSD for optimal heat dissipation. The sandwich design helps maintain pressure for better thermal contact.
- Close the Enclosure: Carefully close the top cover of the enclosure, ensuring it snaps securely into place.

4. Operating Instructions
Once your M.2 NVMe SSD is securely installed in the FIDECO enclosure, you can connect it to your device.
- Connect to Device: Use the provided USB-C to USB-C cable or the USB-C to USB-A adapter to connect the enclosure to a compatible USB port on your computer, laptop, or other device.
- New SSD Initialization (if applicable): If you are using a brand new SSD, it will need to be initialized and formatted before it can be recognized and used by your operating system.
- Windows: Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer" > "Manage" > "Disk Management". Locate the unallocated disk, right-click it, and select "Initialize Disk" then "New Simple Volume" to format it.
- Mac OS: Go to "Applications" > "Utilities" > "Disk Utility". Select the new drive, click "Erase", choose a format (e.g., APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled)), and click "Erase" again.
- Data Transfer: Your M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, offering theoretical transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. It also supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) and Trim for optimized performance and longevity of your SSD.
- Safe Removal: Always safely eject the drive from your operating system before disconnecting the enclosure to prevent data corruption.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your FIDECO M.2 NVMe Enclosure, please refer to the following common solutions:
- Drive Not Recognized:
- New SSD: If it's a new SSD, it needs to be initialized and formatted. Refer to Section 4. Operating Instructions for detailed steps.
- Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and your device. Try a different USB port or cable.
- SSD Compatibility: Verify that your SSD is an M.2 NVMe (M or M+B Key) and not an M.2 SATA or AHCI SSD. This enclosure does not support SATA/AHCI.
- SSD Installation: Re-open the enclosure and ensure the SSD is properly seated in the M.2 slot.
- Slow Transfer Speeds:
- USB Port: Ensure you are connecting to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) or at least a USB 3.0/3.1 (5Gbps) port on your device. Older USB 2.0 ports will significantly limit speeds.
- Cable: Use the original FIDECO cable or a high-quality USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatible cable.
- SSD Performance: The actual speed is also dependent on the performance of your M.2 NVMe SSD.
- Enclosure Overheating:
- The aluminum alloy body is designed for heat dissipation. Ensure the thermal pad is correctly placed on the SSD to transfer heat to the enclosure.
- Avoid placing the enclosure in enclosed spaces during heavy use.

8. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FIDECO M.2 NVMe Enclosure, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials that could damage the finish.
- Storage: When not in use, store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: While the aluminum alloy body is durable, avoid dropping the enclosure or subjecting it to strong impacts, which could damage internal components or the SSD.
- Thermal Pad: Ensure the thermal pad remains in place and makes good contact with the SSD for effective heat transfer.
